BLUE BOY JUNIOR very much caught the eye when fifth on his qualifying run at Southwell 4 weeks ago, keeping on without being knocked about. He appeals as the type to go on improving now handicapping and earns the vote over last year's winner Just Typical. Law of Design and Harswell Ruby are others to merit a second look, too.

Timeform Comments

Harswell Ruby (IRE)
Successful over 1m at Thirsk in April and largely gave her running prior to posting a disappointing effort back over aforementioned C&D 32 days ago, held when hampered over 1f out. Likely candidate to bounce back but she's an infrequent winner overall.
Bowood
Free-going sort who completed a double over 1m at Newcastle last autumn. Posted some respectable efforts on all-weather/turf this year but rather concerning that he's compromised his chance with slow starts on each of his last 2 outings.
Cosmos Raj
Bounced back to form when capitalising on a much-reduced mark over further here in August. Backed that up without posing a win threat when fourth at Ripon (1¼m) since and this 8-y-o is not out of things in refitted cheekpieces.
Henry Halflight (IRE)
Confirmed the promise he'd shown on debut when winning a 9-runner maiden at Newcastle (7f) in March. Proved easy to back and in nothing like the same form on handicap debut at Southwell a month later and betting can likely prove useful on this return/turf debut.
Ephron (IRE)
Doubled his tally in handicaps at Hamilton (1m) in August but not for the first time this year he failed to back that up when sixth of 9 at Carlisle (1m) 4 weeks ago. Not discounted on best form for all he's tricky to predict.
Shadow Run (IRE)
Fair form in Ireland for Michael O'Callaghan and ran well on stable debut when second of 6 in 7f Doncaster handicap last month. Two lesser runs have followed and his stamina isn't assured now tackling 1m for the first time.
Blue Boy Junior (IRE)
Space Blues gelding who has displayed promise all 3 starts to date, catching the eye on qualifying run when fifth of 10 in a Southwell novice (1m) 4 weeks ago. Very much the type to improve further now handicapping and he's one to consider.
Law Of Design (IRE)
On a losing sequence but ran creditably equipped with a visor for the first time when second in a big-field contest at Chepstow (1m) 2 weeks ago. A repeat gives him claims from same mark. One of 2 runners representing Ian Williams.
Mount King (IRE)
Switched to blinkers when getting off the mark for the season at Pontefract in July. Good second at the same course next time but it's now over 3 years since he last won away from that venue and finished a never dangerous sixth over an extended mile at Beverley 17 days ago.
Legacy Rock (IRE)
Has benefited from the step up to 1m, recording back-to-back wins at Windsor in May. Good effort in defeat when runner-up at Nottingham later that month and hasn't been seen to ideal effect on each of his last 2 starts, not well placed at Southwell last time. Cheekpieces on 1st time.
Pisanello (IRE)
Not the force of old but resurgent in refitted visor this summer, completing hat-trick of handicap wins (two here) at Hamilton (9f) in August. Shaped as if still in good heart in 2 subsequent runs and likely he can be competitive again for all this is a step back up in grade.
Just Typical
Five-time winner last year (including in this race) and holding his form well of late, not seen to best effect in a modestly-run affair when fourth at Southwell (1m) 2 weeks ago. Cheekpieces go back on ahead of this and he's lurking on a handy mark.
Viviana
Back on track when second of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (7f, good to firm) last month and excuses on each of her 2 starts since, unsuited by the emphasis on speed when last of 6 at Kempton (7f) 2 weeks ago. Certainly not one to write off with the step up to 1m worth exploring.
