KINGDOM OF KUSH gets the vote on the back of a promising opening second at Newbury last month, although a strong market move for Charlie Appleby newcomer Altius would put a slightly different slant on things. Hierax is next on the list.

Timeform Comments

Charlemont Gg (USA)
Twice-raced winner. Left debut behind when winning 10-runner maiden at Kempton (7f) 14 days ago. Open to further improvement but has to give weight to some promising sorts.
Altius
Foaled February 1. Frankel half-brother to 9f winner Aljadara. Noteworthy newcomer for top yard with excellent juvenile strike-rate.
El Morjan
10/3, green when fourth of 9 in novice at Southwell (7f) on debut 20 days ago, nearest finish. Should have more to offer for leading connections.
Hierax
10/1, plenty of encouragement when fifth of 8 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) on debut 40 days ago. Should improve.
Highland Frost
Foaled February 28. Gleneagles colt. Half-brother to 1½m/12.4f winner Havachoc. Best watched on debut unless the betting strongly hints otherwise.
Imperial Nation (IRE)
11/2, showed promise when third of 6 in novice at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) on debut in May. It's taken a bit of time to get him back to the track but he's another in this field who should have more to offer.
Kingdom Of Kush (IRE)
Promising sort. Second of 8 in maiden (85/40) at Newbury (6.5f, firm) on debut 21 days ago, finishing with running left. Likely to improve and leading claims.
