MAO SHANG WONG is now operating only 1 lb above the mark he defied over C&D in the spring and encouragingly recaptured his peak form when finishing a good second at Newcastle 2 weeks ago. He has the services of a good value claimer back onboard and shades preference over Bearwith and Great Blasket. 3-y-o Ohara is another worthy of a second look.

Justified support in comfortable fashion for new connections at Nottingham (1m) in July and similar form when placed both subsequent outings, having every chance when third at Lingfield (1m) 3 weeks ago. Definite possibilities back at this longer trip.
Mao Shang Wong (IRE)
Bounced back to best when scoring over C&D in May and posted his best effort since on back of a 4-week break when second at Newcastle (1¼m) 13 days ago. Operating just 1 lb above last winning mark and he's of interest with his rider taking off a handy 5 lb.
Shimmering Sands
Returned from 6 months off to land back-to-back handicaps at Pontefract (1¼m) in June. His mark rose significantly as a result and he's performed no more than respectably in 2 starts since, failing to figure when sixth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle 2 weeks ago. Tongue strap back on.
Ohara
Decisive winner of a nursery at Pontefract (1m, heavy) at the end of last season. Exploits mixed this time around but went a long way to confirming he's back in something like top form when fourth in selling company at Goodwood (11f) 17 days ago. One of only two 3-y-os here and worthy of respect.
Bearwith
C&D winner who was back on the scoresheet at Newcastle in July and he performed well when second from the front over C&D next time. Produced a tame finish back up in trip when fifth at Southwell (11f) since but no surprise to see a better showing from a handy draw.
Austrian Theory (IRE)
Not tasted success for almost 2 years but his mark reflects that and he again ran respectably when fourth in amateur riders' race at Haydock (11.6f) earlier this month. Assessor has eased him a little more ahead of this but others look stronger from a win perspective.
Cosmos Raj
Bounced back to form when capitalising on a much-reduced mark over this trip at Redcar in August. Backed that up without posing a win threat when fourth at Ripon (1¼m) since. Engaged 2.53 Redcar Tuesday.
Dr Rio (FR)
Veteran who is a 6-time winner here and he arrives having bounced back to his best when emphatically landing 7-runner handicap at Carlisle (11f) 3 weeks ago. This looks to demand more however from 6 lb higher mark.
Freddy Robinson
C&D winner who ended a losing run over hurdles at Market Rasen (16.6f) in December prior to finishing runner-up 3 times over further here during the spring. Not disgraced when fifth over hurdles at Hexham in June and his record around here is a pretty solid one.
Kitsune Power (IRE)
Ended a long losing sequence over C&D in July and made the frame on each of his next 2 starts. However, well below that level in pair of Ripon handicaps last month and bounce back now called for.
Hunterian (IRE)
Confirmed his positive start in handicaps by winning at Ayr (1m) in June but not built on that in 3 runs since, no upturn following a gelding operation when seventh at Southwell (1m) 16 days ago. Tackles a longer trip now.
