Timeform View

CELTIC STORM is shaping up well, appreciating the increase in trip and improving on his debut form when posting a good third at Kempton (1m) 16 days ago. He appeals as the type to go on progressing and can make a successful switch to turf under Billy Loughnane. Charmed Boy may emerge best of the newcomers, whilst Pen Lan Icon is another to note now her stamina is tested further.

Timeform Comments

Bowdens (FR)
Foaled May 6. €30,000 yearling, Australia colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 6f winner Neapolitan and French 2-y-o 8.4f winner Henry The Lion. Dam, French 7f winner, half-sister to smart/temperamental winner up to 1¼m Toofi. Betting can prove a useful guide ahead of debut.
Celtic Storm (FR)
Texas colt who is shaping up well, building on his debut effort and suited by the increase in trip when posting a good third in a Kempton novice (1m) 16 days ago, doing by far of those from off the pace. Will go on improving and claims if proving as effective under these conditions.
Charmed Boy (IRE)
Foaled April 25. €17,500 foal, €37,000 yearling, Harry Angel colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 1¼m-1½m winner Wonder Kid and winner up to 1¼m Bavardages. Yard more than capable of readying a newcomer and he's interesting with Tom Marquand booked.
Frontier Legend
At long odds and showed only greenness when well held in novice at Newcastle (6f) on debut in July. Significantly up in trip.
Glen In Rome (IRE)
Foaled April 5. €35,000 foal, 24,000 gns yearling, Gleneagles colt. Dam, 12.4f winner abroad, half-sister to smart winner abroad up to 11f Dalika. Yard not known for 2-y-o debutant winners and he rates a likely outsider on racecourse bow.
Lion's Den (IRE)
Foaled February 19. 18,000 gns Rajasinghe gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful 5f/6f winner Queen Jo Jo. Best to look elsewhere on debut unless the betting suggests otherwise.
Unicorn Milkshake
Bred for longer trips but he offered something to work on amid greenness when sixth of 11 in a class 2 York maiden (7f) 2 weeks ago. Step up to 1m/ease in grade both rate positives but others appeal more for win purposes.
Pen Lan Icon
Territories filly who showed more than first time up switched to turf when third in a Beverley maiden (7.3f, heavy) 3 weeks ago, looking suited by the emphasis on stamina. Step up to 1m a plus on that evidence and underfoot conditions will certainly hold no fears.
