Timeform View

MONOCEROS took his form up a notch when getting off the mark for current connections at Haydock earlier in the month and nudged up just 3 lb, Iain Jardine's 3-y-o gets the vote to follow up. Matter of Britain ran out a commanding winner of a C&D maiden last month, so he heads up the opposition now handicapping, with Krissy and Maximising another couple worthy of consideration, too.

Timeform Comments

Empire Of Light (IRE)
Picked up where he left off in 2025 when gamely winning at Haydock (10.5f) in April and better than ever when completing the hat-trick back over 1m at Thirsk the following month. Not seen to best effect after 13 weeks off at York a fortnight ago and heads into the autumn fresher than most.
Cadarn (IRE)
Began 2025 with 2 Redcar wins (for George Boughey) and returned to form from out of the blue in a reapplied tongue strap when landing 14-runner event at York in June. Backed that up at Ripon next time but not seen to best effect here (9f) since (ridden too aggressively).
Rajapour (IRE)
Opened his account for the season at Redcar in July and ran up to best for current yard when doubling his tally there (1m) last month, scoring readily despite meeting trouble in running. Not disgraced back up slightly in grade at York since but handicapper seemingly in charge for now.
Maximising (IRE)
Low-mileage 4-y-o who got off the mark at Lingfield in January and having his first start on turf in over a year, built on his Kempton second in the summer to double his tally in 8-runner event at Windsor (1m, good to soft) just over 3 weeks ago. Considered from 5 lb higher.
Military Leader
Won at Southwell and Thirsk on return in May and continued to progress in defeat before notching a third win of the season in a 15-runner event at Thirsk last month. Ran at least as from 9 lb higher when second to Monoceros at Haydock (1m) earlier in the month so folly to discount.
Time Loop (IRE)
Off mark in novice at Chelmsford on the back of a 2-year absence last autumn. Low-key start in handicaps but took a step forward in a first-time hood when fourth of 11 in handicap at Salisbury (1m, good to soft) earlier in the month. Needs to build on that here.
Monoceros
Ex-Godolphin gelding who showed improved form to double his tally in 12-runner event at Haydock (1m, soft) just over a fortnight ago, relishing the conditions and proving gutsy to fend off the runner-up late on. Nudged up 3 lb and could well have more to offer.
Vincenzo Peruggia (IRE)
Ready winner of Beverley novice last summer. Very good second at Musselburgh on reappearance/handicap debut but hasn't kicked on, his latest fourth of 6 at Lingfield (1m) 10 days ago suggesting that is as good as he is. First-time visor now tried.
Lucky Camino (IRE)
Gelded before landing 5-runner handicap over C&D in July and shaped better than result suggested at Kempton next time. Ran poorly and not for the first time looked less than straightforward upped in trip at Salisbury (1¼m) earlier in the month so needs to quickly bounce back.
Krissy (IRE)
Forward-going type. Held on gamely to notch her fourth win of the season at Musselburgh (9f) in June and has mostly remained in good form, again finding one too strong in 7-runner event at Ayr (1¼m, soft) just 3 days ago. Respected with an easy lead potentially on the cards.
Matter Of Britain
Victor Ludorum gelding who showed improved form to get off the mark in 8-runner maiden over C&D (good to firm) just under 6 weeks ago, drawing clear for hands-and-heels ride having travelled strongly. Shortlisted with further improvement on the cards now handicapping.
Good Morning Alex
Notched a seventh career success at Ripon in April 2025. Has been in the doldrums this year, though did step up on recent run when fifth of 10 at Musselburgh (9f, good to firm) 8 days ago, passing a few late on from easing mark. Needs to prove that wasn't a false dawn.
