A competitive-looking race, with the vote going to the bottom-weight TANJEN, who again went close at Doncaster last week. The consistent Thornaby Pearl and recent Catterick winner Military Girl are next on the shortlist in a race where it's difficult to fully rule any of them out.

Timeform Comments

Military Girl (IRE)
Completed a double in determined fashion over at Thirsk in early-June and added to her good record at Catterick when notching a third win of the season in a 9-runner race there (5f, good, 10/1) 13 days ago. Respected after 3 lb rise.
Thornaby Pearl
Enjoying a productive campaign, scoring for the fourth time in 2026 at Windsor (5f, good to firm) last month. Confirmed himself as still in top form when second of 9 at Ripon (5f, good to soft) 21 days ago and his proven effectiveness on softer ground means he's of interest again.
Veydari (IRE)
Didn't manage to win for current yard last year but made the frame on 3 occasions. Having dropped back down to his winning mark, shaped well on his return when second of 10 at Pontefract in June, doing too much having faced competition for the lead. Has had a breathing operation ahead of return.
Harb
Won at Beverley in late-August and then followed up at Newcastle just 4 days later. Not in same form trying to concede a double penalty when fifteenth of 21 in handicap at York (5.4f, good, 18/1) 15 days ago but merits respect.
Thistle Nil (IRE)
Surprise 200/1 winner of an Ayr maiden (soft) in June. Back to form when doubling his tally at C&D (5f, 50/1) last month but rather predictably wasn't in the same form back at Ayr on Friday.
Ashen (IRE)
Not long with present stable when opening account at Ayr in May. Largely held his form well since, producing another respectable effort when fifth of 11 in handicap at this course (6f, good) 31 days ago. Others holding more pressing win claims, though.
Tanjen (IRE)
Capitalised on drop in grade when resuming winning ways at C&D last month and has remained in good form when making the frame on all 3 starts since, headed only close home when second of 10 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Shortlisted with tongue strap on 1st time.
