ZAMBEZI MAGIC loves it around here and provided he can leave a lesser effort behind returned to class 6 company, he's fancied to add a seventh C&D success to his tally. Rogers Dream opened her account in impressive fashion at Ripon last month, so she heads up the dangers back in a handicap, with Elora Prince and City Escape taken to fight out third.

Timeform Comments

Zambezi Magic
Didn't arrive in much form but capitalised on a sliding mark in 5-runner event at Chepstow (1¼m) last month. Unable to confirm that effort from a 4 lb higher mark when sixth of 11 at Chester (10.5f) 10 days ago but looks worth chancing returned to a 0-60 under forecast testing conditions.
Rogers Dream
Switch to front-running tactics produced an upturn in fortunes, winning a classified stakes by a wide margin at Ripon (1¼m, soft) 3 weeks ago. Clearly improved a good deal and not without hope back in handicap company if able to lead again.
Calaxy (IRE)
Southwell maiden winner in October 2024 but has largely struggled in handicaps since. Suffered a nasty incident on the first bend making his return/yard debut when slipping up at Thirsk last month and ran poorly returned to the all-weather at Kempton last week. Cheekpieces reapplied.
City Escape (IRE)
Dual scorer in 2025 who bounced back to winning ways when taking 10-runner classified event over C&D (good) last month. Didn't get going in time back on softer ground at Chepstow 8 days later so percentage call is to look elsewhere.
Trooper (GER)
Five-time winner on the Flat in Germany but hasn't offered much over hurdles for current yard this year and it's been a similar story returned to this sphere on his last 4 outings.
Adrian (GER)
Veteran who hasn't won for over 5 years but arrives in good order, third of 10 at this course (1½m, good) last month. Record on the level for these connections now 0-21 so will most likely find a few too strong once again.
Elora Prince (IRE)
Finally got off the mark back in a handicap in 6-runner event at Chepstow (1¼m, soft) just over 3 weeks ago, responding well to the refitting of cheekpieces and a positive ride. Nudged up 4 lb and he could kick on now up and running.
Summer Evening (IRE)
Placed twice on all-weather at Lingfield earlier in the year but below par in recent starts.
Mick The Hat (IRE)
Standout effort when third on handicap debut here (1½m, soft) in June. A pair of next-time-out winners emerged from that race but he's offered little all 3 starts since. First run for yard after leaving Ralph Beckett (5,000 gns) and first-time cheekpieces are reached for.
