CITY CAPTAIN took his form to another level when narrowly failing to land a gamble here last week so looks the one to beat off the same mark. Francisco's Piece is next best after his eye-catching run in the Ayr Bronze Cup, while Topwarrior offered a bit more in this headgear at Doncaster last time and is back on a winning mark.

Timeform Comments

Gaeli (ITY)
Stepped up on his form in Italy when winning off 4 lb higher at Southwell on return in March. However, ran poorly on final start for Marco Botti and showed little encouragement starting out for this yard at Ascot.
Jordan Electrics
Veteran course specialist who recorded his tenth win here over C&D (soft) last week. Must be respected under a penalty.
Topwarrior
Goes well in the mud, as shown when winning off this mark at Newbury in a big field last autumn. Yet to fire this season but latest run at Doncaster (in this headgear) was much more encouraging. Interesting.
Francisco's Piece
Took advantage of his reduced mark when ending the drought at Musselburgh in July. Found to have bled after but showed no ill effects in 2 starts since, likely to have been right in the mix had he not met trouble in the Ayr Bronze Cup 10 days ago. Needs considering.
City Captain
Won 4 times last season and further progress this year, resuming winning ways here (6f) last month. Only just denied the follow up over same C&D last week so obvious claims off the same mark with the drop to 5f unlikely to be an issue.
Changeofmind (IRE)
Back to winning ways at Pontefract in May. Some decent efforts in defeat since but found this level a bit too competitive at Doncaster 2 weeks ago.
Temple Of Athena
Mixed record since winning at Wolverhampton on return but she proved herself on testing ground when a length behind Copper Knight at Chester 9 days ago.
Dandy Magic (IRE)
Capitalised on reduced mark when opening her account for the season here (6f) in August. Good in-frame efforts next 3 starts, including at Haydock (heavy) on Saturday, but form suggests she's better at 6f.
Parisiac (IRE)
Resumed with success over C&D in June. Runner-up on next 2 starts but not in the same form since. Back on last winning mark now at least.
Copper Knight (IRE)
Admirable veteran who took advantage of his low draw and career-low mark when justifying support at Chester 9 days ago. Will likely find this tougher.
