A smart conditions race featuring 3 Group 1 winners. KIND OF BLUE seemingly isn't quite the same force as when winning the Champions Sprint at Ascot a couple of years ago but his second to Elmonjed in a York Group 2 in the spring shows he's still highly talented on his day. He gets a narrow vote over Wise Approach, who should prove suited by the return to 6f, and Mitbaahy.

Multiple all-weather scorer who added to his tally at Lingfield (7f) in February before a good second at listed level next time. Creditable 4¼ lengths fourth of 11 to Paborus in Group 3 Chipchase at Newcastle (6f) when last seen in June but has to give weight to some strong opposition here.
Kind Of Blue
Smart sort who landed the Champions Sprint at Ascot (soft) in 2024. Showed he's still really smart on his day when second in York Group 2 on reappearance in May. Has come up short in Group 1 company on his 2 outings since but a potential class act with his sights lowered.
Mitbaahy (IRE)
Group 2 winner in his prime and placed efforts in a Newbury Group 3 and the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood this summer show he's still smart on his day. Well held in a soft-ground Group 3 in France last time but should have a say here.
Montassib
2024 Haydock Sprint Cup winner but hasn't come close to scaling the same heights in a light career since. Off since finishing a respectable 4¼ lengths fifth of 10 to Comanche Brave in Group 2 Greenlands at the Curragh in May. 2-2 on all-weather (both tapeta at Newcastle).
Spy Chief
Talented but quirky. Resumed with very good second in Salisbury 6f listed event, despite looking awkward under pressure. Looked a hard ride again (pulled hard) when below par in another listed event at Newbury 12 days ago. Has a hood refitted for the first time since his debut.
Wise Approach (IRE)
Won 3 times in 2025, including Group 1 Middle Park. Made a disappointing start to current season but better signs last twice, including 2½ lengths fourth of 8 to More Thunder in Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster (7f) in first-time cheekpieces (retained) 18 days ago. Drop back in trip should suit.
