Ralph Beckett's DIALSTONE gets the nod in a race where several look potentially well treated. Fellow handicap debutant Treble Bass heads the dangers, along with Roc De Fer, while support for either Harry Derham runner is likely to be telling.

Son Of Man (IRE)
Sole career success came at Lingfield (1½m) in April. Sprang back to life after a trio of dull runs when 6½ lengths third of 9 at Windsor (11.5f) last time. Now only 1 lb above his last winning mark and looks worth a go over this longer trip.
Dialstone
Good-looking sort from useful family. Finished one place ahead of Treble Bass at Kempton before improving to open his account at Bath (1¼m) latest, looking better the further he went. Opening mark a potentially lenient one and more to come over this significantly longer trip. Very interesting.
Macari
Versatile performer who won 3 times on the Flat last year (including over C&D). May have needed the run following 11 weeks away at Windsor last time. Remains below his latest winning mark, however, he may be one for later in the autumn (form figures of 211 on heavy ground in this sphere).
Roc De Fer (IRE)
Typical Sir Mark Prescott improver. Landed back-to-back handicaps on all-weather before running at least as well when ¾-length second under a penalty at Musselburgh (13f) 8 weeks ago. Claims if taking another step forward over even further here (half-brother to an Old Borough Cup winner).
Mr Freedom
Fairly useful dual-purpose performer. Ran as well as could be expected in a higher grade at Doncaster on penultimate start. Shaped as if ready for this step back up in trip when fourth in similar event at Newmarket (1½m) 7 days ago, only beaten 2¾ lengths.
Viyanni (IRE)
Looked a stayer when winning at Bellewstown (1¾m) on handicap bow/latest Flat start in Ireland in 2024. On a potentially handy mark judged on fairly useful 2025 juvenile hurdle form (hasn't stood much racing of late). Dangerous if good yard has him back on song for belated Flat return.
Treble Bass
210,000 gns son of Sea the Stars. Ran his best race when 2¼-length second to Interstate (entered at Kempton on Wednesday) on qualifying run at Newcastle (1¼m) last time. Shapes as though he'll improve for this longer trip and remains very much unexposed back on turf for handicap bow.
One Horse Town (IRE)
Won Kempton novice on fourth start for present yard last spring. Subsequently completed fairly useful hurdle 4-timer in Grade 2 Triumph Trial at Cheltenham last November. On potentially attractive mark for first Flat start on turf and market should offer plenty of clues (yard also saddles Viyanni).
Curran (IRE)
Doubled his tally for current yard when capitalising on a good opportunity over C&D in July. Wasn't far off his best for the return to this trip when beaten 4½ lengths at Bath last time. May just prove vulnerable to a less-exposed one here.
Pyleates
Low-mileage 4-y-o (half-sister to stable's high-class Pyledriver) who has made a positive start in handicaps. Very much had the run of the race when off the mark in 3-runner event at Doncaster (form since franked) in July. Likely needs a career-best to follow up in a deeper event, though.
