Timeform View

COMANCHE MOON caught the eye on reappearance last season and it'll be interesting if he's supported this time around. He gets the nod over Hidalgo Des Mottes, who appeals on the best of his efforts, while Minority Interest could play a big role if the rain arrives. Talas Kera also needs a second look in a wide-open race, with several handicap debutants open to improvement, too.

Timeform Comments

Jonny Carrol (IRE)
Low mileage 5-y-o. Finished as close as he has when 7 lengths fourth of 14 at Wexford (2½m) in early-August. That form has some substance but he'll need more to defy his current mark.
Free Flow (USA)
Hold-up type. Hasn't made much impact in handicaps since his clear-cut win in Thurles maiden hurdle last spring. Drops another 1 lb having been less-than-ideally placed at Ballinrobe last time, with promising claimer taking over.
Le Roi Arthur (IRE)
Made the frame on second of 2 starts in points. Gone backwards since his third on hurdling debut at Sligo last July. Opening mark certainly could have been kinder but step up in trip can only benefit.
Minority Interest (IRE)
Much improved when off the mark over C&D in decisive fashion this time last year, soft ground seemingly a catalyst. Shaped well over an inadequate trip at Limerick (2m, heavy) in March prior to running poorly at Cork (good to soft) in May. Could be worth another chance if the rain arrives.
Bold Reflection (IRE)
Expensive point recruit who won a heavy-ground bumper on debut at Limerick in December 2022. Brought along steadily in maiden hurdles following a 3-year absence and could do better now handicapping (yard also saddle Allroadsleadtorome)
Lady Felicia (IRE)
Jukebox Jury mare out of a fairly useful dam (stayed 3m). Ran to a similar level in 3 maiden hurdles, latterly beaten 19 lengths when stepped up markedly in trip at Kilbeggan (25f). Will need to improve for the switch to a handicap.
Wildhorserider (IRE)
Made the frame both starts in points. Brought along steadily in maidens, showing a bit more when well-held sixth at Clonmel (2½m, soft) in early-April. In capable hands, and the type to do better now tackling handicaps.
Comanche Moon (IRE)
Caught the eye a couple of times in heavy-ground 2m handicaps in the spring. Off since finishing down the field at Wexford in May, however, he's one to be interested in if the market vibes are positive on first start over 2½m (bred to suit).
Allroadsleadtorome
Attracted strong support when well-held fifth in a bumper at Kelso in May (possibly not facing cheekpieces on that occasion). Finished with running left when down the field on qualifying run at Bellewstown (17f) in early-July. Potential improver now sent handicapping over a longer trip.
Hidalgo Des Mottes (FR)
Long-standing maiden. Runner-up in a solid-looking Thurles handicap last November. Again found only one too good at Punchestown in June prior to a lesser effort at Wexford the following month. Weighted to go well under good-value claimer on return from break, though soft ground would be an unknown.
Midnight Musical (IRE)
Made an encouraging bumper debut at Galway last summer. Went wrong way afterwards and has followed a similar trend over hurdles this season, faring no better in refitted cheekpieces at Bellewstown (2½m) latest.
Thurman (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden. Offered little in 2 handicap starts 4 months apart. Brian Hayes takes over from 7-lb claimer here.
Stumblin In (IRE)
Won a Tramore handicap off 3 lb lower mark last spring. Didn't build on a promising effort for Jack Doyle at Clonmel in June (faller on final start for that yard 10 weeks ago). Could be on a handy mark if revitalised by switch of stables.
Ardera Gun (IRE)
Maiden who shaped a bit better than being pulled up would suggest (briefly went second towards end of back straight) at Kilbeggan on final start last season. Unseated on reappearance at Wexford. Blinkers refitted and remains one to treat with a degree of caution.
Sunrise Strider (IRE)
Lightly-raced 5-y-o. Showed first form when 11 lengths sixth on handicap bow at Limerick (2m, heavy) over Christmas. Didn't build on that at Punchestown, though, and returns from an 8-month absence here.
Silin Alainn (IRE)
Only showed a bit for Norman Lee. Looked rusty when beaten 9 lengths on return from 22 months away at Killarney (2½m). May well make more impact off her lowly mark on second start for a very useful yard, though.
The Ducks Walk (IRE)
Winning pointer who again showed promise under a very patient ride when sixth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (2½m, good). Too free to build on that at Wexford last time and more testing conditions something of an unknown.
Rose Mountain (IRE)
Has an ordinary pedigree. No form in bumpers/maiden hurdles at long odds. Now tackles low-grade handicap/longer trip for first time.
Talas Kera (IRE)
Benefited as expected for drop back in trip when 6 lengths fourth in big-field event at Tramore in August. That form has been franked by the second/third, and she's one of the more appealing types on just third handicap start.
Glory Sky (IRE)
Fair winner up to 1m on the Flat for Richard Hannon. Shaped better than the beaten distance when well-held fifth on return at Downpatrick (17f). Cheekpieces on for only second time, though does have stamina to prove back up in trip.
Trixaboutmaisie (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden. Didn't improve for her reappearance (2m) when down the field on second handicap start at Wexford (3m), despite being much tighter in the betting than previously. RESERVE
Arctic Piper (IRE)
Long-standing maiden. Hasn't looked like capitalising on a falling mark in a couple of handicap hurdle starts for present yard this summer. RESERVE
Lariat
Long-standing maiden. Did little to suggest he's ready to capitalise on a career-low mark at Navan (19f) last time. Hopes pinned on another change of headgear. RESERVE
