Timeform View

With 3-y-os having an excellent recent record in this race, it may pay to concentrate on COCKADE and Princling, who have both won fresh previously. John & Thady Gosden's charge narrowly shades the vote, with Collecting Coin the pick of the older horses.

Timeform Comments

A Major Payne
Reliable performer who improved a little further to score for the third time in 2026 at Goodwood (1¼m, good to soft) latest, travelling well under a typically patient ride. He's plainly a better horse than when campaigned over this trip last summer and ought to give another good account.
Collecting Coin
Cemented his fine start for present yard when length fifth of 17 in a Premier Handicap at Leopardstown (7f) last time. Caught the eye with how he travelled that day and still relatively unexposed over 1m. Interesting contender among the older brigade.
Final Night
All 4 successes to date have come over 1m at Kempton. Has at least matched that form on turf in recent starts, continuing in good heart when 3 lengths fourth (suffered some interference) at Haydock last time. May prove vulnerable back in Class 3 company here.
Henlein (AUS)
Smart runner-up in 1¼m Group 1 at Randwick in October 2024. No impact in handicaps for present yard since returning from an absence. A further 4 lb reprieve does see him drop into calmer waters here, though, and isn't one to totally give up on.
Hygge
Low-mileage 4-y-o who's a half-brother to a smart one on the Flat. Underperformed on handicap bow at Galway (8.5f) prior to making it 3 wins from 4 starts (including maiden hurdle win) when successful at Laytown (7f) last time. This is tougher but he still has more to offer in this sphere.
The Angel King
Dual 7f winner in France for Francis-Henri Graffard. Back to his useful best for current yard with runner-up finishes on 2 of his last 3 starts, chasing home an in-form front runner at Sandown (7f) latest. Respected trying 1m for the first time in this sort of company.
The Liffey (IRE)
Made hay in Dundalk claimers prior to a successful stable debut at Kempton (1m) in July. Backed that up when runner-up in a highly competitive Glorious Goodwood (7f) handicap. Slow start didn't help his cause at Doncaster (6.5f) latest. Could bounce back returning to 1m/slightly calmer waters.
Cockade
From an excellent family that connections know well. Confirmed the promise of his strong debut form when winning on reappearance at Windsor (1m). Underdone by lingering greenness when third at Newmarket subsequently. Has more upside than the rest of these and may well make another successful return.
Drymee
Improving 3-y-o. Sealed a third success from 4 starts with a good turn of foot at Sandown last time, winning easily despite not looking entirely straightforward. Ought to be suited by the bigger field here, however, faces no easy task at the weights on first start against his elders.
Monarch's Gold
A 6-figure breeze-up buy with a smart pedigree. Won pair of all-weather novices as a juvenile. Placed twice in handicaps at Chester/Hamilton earlier this season and hasn't faced his ideal set-up on his most recent couple of starts. Each-way prospects on just his second start over 1m.
Princling
Strong 2-y-o form prior to making a winning return at Wetherby in April. Couldn't repeat his fine 2½-length fifth in the Golden Gates (1½m) when turned out fairly quickly at Newmarket in July. Since given a break/gelded by his excellent yard (has won fresh) and fancied to go well over a stiff 1m.
Suspicious Mindz
Free-going sort. Followed up his Curragh maiden (6f) win for Mrs J. Harrington with handicap/stable debut success at Doncaster (7f) in August. Improved again in defeat when ½-length second in 7f conditions event here latest and looks ready for this return to 1m.
