Timeform View

The hat-trick seeking PILU has found improvement since taking on his elders and still looks on a workable mark. He gets the nod in an open-looking contest. Northcliff, Yordan and Far Above Dream make up the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

Far Above Dream (IRE)
Improving sprinter has been another success story for his excellent yard (23 lb higher than his win on handicap/stable debut last June). Rare below-par effort in Ayr Gold Cup latest but went agonisingly close in York handicap that's worked out extremely well previously and must be respected here.
Wiltshire
Slow starter who put it all together to land a smart success on All-Weather Finals Day in April but has looked reluctant since. Best watched.
Badri
Most likeable type who has enjoyed an excellent season, bagging 4 handicaps during the summer. Back to best when close second of 6 in conditions stakes at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 10 days ago and is likely to make his presence felt.
Annaf (IRE)
Ended 2025 with a Group 3 over this C&D. Yet to score this year but has dropped down the weights and returned to form when creditable fourth of 21 in handicap at Doncaster 20 days ago. Merits consideration.
Fandom
A 3-time winner in the US earlier in his career and returned to his best when successful at Thirsk (6f) in May. Largely run well in defeat since, including when second of 10 in handicap at Haydock (5f, soft) 6 days ago. Enters calculations.
Bolo Neighs (IRE)
Has been in good form here this season, landing a handicap over this trip in first-time cheekpieces in May and solid third (again over 6f) in July. Got going too late over the minimum trip since and is not taken lightly.
Ray Mon Dough
Free-going type who doubled his tally in 4-runner handicap at Leicester in August. However, has failed to repeat that effort in 2 subsequent outings, racing on softer ground than previously when fourth at Thirsk 27 days ago.
Orion's Belt (IRE)
Sole success thus far came in Newmarket maiden last summer and not troubled the judge in a trio of starts this season, latest on handicap debut over a longer trip here last month. Others more convincing.
Goldmoyne (IRE)
Yet another fine advert for his yard, winning 6 times on all-weather between December and March. Has held his form well from higher marks on turf since, latest when close second of 23 in handicap (22/1) at Ayr (6f, heavy) 13 days ago. 3 lb higher now but ought to go well again.
Pilu (IRE)
Back to winning ways at Newmarket in August and upped his game further when following up in 9-runner handicap (4/1) at Yarmouth (6f, good) 15 days ago by length from Another Abbot. This is more competitive but he looks sure to go well again.
Another Abbot (IRE)
Better than ever when successful at Windsor in July and ran to similar level when creditable length second of 9 to Pilu in handicap at Yarmouth (6f, good, 9/1) 15 days ago, rallying. Respected.
First Legion (IRE)
Bounced back to best when narrowly landing 8-runner handicap at this course (7f, good) 28 days ago, driven out. Remains feasibly treated and ought to go well again.
Northcliff (IRE)
Built on promise of previous run when making a winning debut for new yard in 9-runner handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago, comfortably. Raised 7 lb since but useful claimer has been booked. Player.
Diligently
Responded well to get up late in 12-runner handicap at Windsor in June and back to that sort of form when runner-up over same C&D in August. Disappointed here (not for the first time) since, however.
Intense Vision
Unbeaten in 2 starts in France last year but is yet to really threaten over longer trips for current yard in 2026 and makes limited appeal.
Yordan (IRE)
Confirmed debut promise when getting off the mark in good style at Southwell in August and improved on that when easily following up at Newcastle (6f) last month. Likely more to come on handicap debut.
Ironwill (IRE)
Headstrong sort who landed the third win of his career when getting up in the final strides at Newmarket (7f) in July. Largely remained in good form since and looks worth another crack at this shorter trip.
Purest Time
Won at Windsor in May but hasn't run to same level since, just respectable seventh in lower-grade contest at Doncaster latest. Others preferred.
