CROWN OF INDIA shaped as if still in form behind a trio of next-time-out winners at Worcester last time and likely has a fitness edge on several of the main protagonists. He narrowly shades the vote over interesting stable-switcher Diamond Egg, with Desert Halo and Birthday Angel also appealing on return.

King Of The Bronx (IRE)
Has shown nothing for a couple of a new handlers since winning a Cork handicap hurdle on final start for Gavin Cromwell last spring.
Birthday Angel (IRE)
Smooth-travelling type who rattled off a quickfire double at Plumpton/Wincanton in November. Creditable 13¾-length fifth in a better race at Wincanton latest hurdle start and returned in good form on the Flat recently. Reverts to hurdling and makes appeal back down in class.
Devon Red
Lightly-raced maiden from capable stable. Creditable form with 3 in-frame finishes at Newton Abbot. Looked outclassed in terms of looks/ability when down the field in a valuable novice final at Worcester. Blinkers retained on return to calmer waters but drop back in trip isn't certain to suit.
Desert Halo (IRE)
Beat a subsequent winner to open his account on handicap debut at Plumpton before bumping into a well-treated one at Hereford in April. Wasn't in same form when well-held fourth on final start at Uttoxeter but still reasonably treated if firing on all cylinders on this return to action.
Begin The Luck (IRE)
Won 3 small-field chases last season. Found less than looked likely in a similar event at Plumpton in late May. Hard to be confident he can capitalise on lower hurdle mark following an underwhelming return to this sphre at Newton Abbot 15 days ago.
Crown Of India (IRE)
Only denied a third Worcester success by a handicap debutant in June. Bumped into one with a solid course record at Market Rasen subsequently. Latest 8¾ lengths sixth at Worcester has proved strong form for the grade and he could well resume winning ways with fitness on his side.
Black Dakota (IRE)
Winning pointer who was ridden with an eye to the future when a well-held fourth of 7 on qualifying run at Newton Abbot (2¾m). Should do better now handicapping, though the drop in trip isn't guaranteed to suit given his pedigree/pointing background.
Diamond Egg (FR)
Fair bumper/maiden hurdle winner in 2022/3. Proved he retains ability when smooth-travelling second in a Fakenham selling handicap on final start for Henrietta Knight last February. Interesting returning for shrewd yard in new headgear combo, especially if backed.
A Tickatickatiming
Free-going sort who won a bumper/maiden hurdle at Plumpton in 2023. Still waiting on a first handicap success, again not seeing it out over a slightly longer trip when 9¼ lengths fourth at Stratford (19f) in July. Has a chance if things fall right off a career-low mark.
