SO REGAL has quickly progressed into a useful filly, shaping encouragingly after 4 months off when not beaten far in a Group 3 at Sandown in August. She represents last year's winning stable/owners (Cheveley Park also landed the prize in 2024) and can gain a first black-type success, at the expense of last year's runner-up Dash of Azure. Midnight Tango completes the shortlist.

Timeform Comments

American Gal
Listed winner over 1m in France last year and went close in the Valiant Stakes at this course. Largely struggled on first 4 starts this season, but there were better signs on first run since leaving Ed Walker when never-nearer eighth of 19 in Group 3 at Doncaster (7f) 20 days ago.
Breckenbrough
Ex Andrew Balding filly who has developed into a useful sort for this yard, ending 2025 with listed success at Saint-Cloud. Made the frame in listed races at Longchamp on first 2 starts this season and has had excuses since, suffering interference in Group 3 at Longchamp 20 days ago.
Dash Of Azure
Successful twice in handicaps last season before narrowly denied in this race. Without a win during the current campaign, but runner-up in 2 listed races at Chester and was unsuited by the drop back to 6f at Pontefract last time. No surprise to see a bold show.
Mostar Dreams (IRE)
Gained a first success for this yard in 1m handicap at Newcastle in January. Good efforts when making the frame in a pair of listed races at Pontefract in July but below form the last twice, running poorly back in handicap company at Thirsk (6f) on latest outing.
Albaydaa (IRE)
Continued her progress when landing the odds in handicap at Carlisle (7f) in May and, after a couple of respectable efforts (listed race on first occasion), got back on the up when second to a thriving rival at Salisbury (6f) last month. Will need to find more again.
Awaken (IRE)
Made the frame in the Albany at this course (6f) and Rockfel at Newmarket at 2 yrs. Worked her way back to form this season when fourth in a 1m Deauville Group 3 in August, before failing to last home over 9f at Chantilly 2 weeks ago. Drop back in trip/grade should be more suitable.
Domina Ignis (FR)
Impressive debut winner at Southwell last year and shaped well when third in the Fred Darling at Newbury on return. Well held in 1000 Guineas/Jersey Stakes next 2 starts, but took a step back in the right direction when 4 lengths seventh of 19 in Group 3 at Doncaster 20 days ago.
Josh's Joy (IRE)
Maiden winner at Naas (6f) at the fourth attempt last year. Not seen to best effect on handicap/seasonal debut and has run well at Group 3 level the last twice, returning from 4 months off when fifth of 12 at Cork in August. Drops in grade but more still required.
Just A Girl
Sole success came in novice on the turf at Lingfield last summer but has still improved this season, runner-up 3 times including in listed race at Carlisle in June. Soon bounced back from a below-par run when 1½ lengths third in another listed contest at Deauville in August.
Midnight Tango
Showed much improved form when runner-up in the Pavilion Stakes here (6f) on return in May. Left poorly placed in the Commonwealth Cup next time, before possibly needing the run after 2 months off in listed race at Newmarket in August. Merits consideration.
Secret History (IRE)
Made it 3 wins from her first 4 starts this season when scoring in 7f handicap at Newmarket in July. Again ran well when third in 20-runner contest at Glorious Goodwood (6f), before not ideally placed at York's Ebor meeting. Has something to find up in grade, though.
So Regal
Built on debut promise when winning a Newmarket maiden (1m) on return and followed up in novice at this course. Good efforts in defeat the last twice, runner-up in listed race at York in May and beaten only a length when fifth of 10 in Group 3 at Sandown 5 weeks ago. Strong claims back down in trip.
