CHARTED COURSE sets a very good standard and this costly breeze-up purchase is fancied to go one better than his Goodwood second last time out and gain a first win at the chief expense of Green Star who shaped well when a debut runner-up at Chester. Both Crystal Dark and Bombora are in very good hands and also enter the reckoning after promising respective debut efforts at Newcastle and Doncaster.

Timeform Comments

Bombora
Well-related Baaeed colt looked in need of the experience when eighth of 10 in maiden at Doncaster (1m, good) on debut 3 weeks ago, not unduly punished. Seems sure to build on it.
Cagney (IRE)
Earthlight colt who is bred to be useful but showed only a bit when down the field in 6f York novice on debut in June. Probably needs more time.
Charted Course
450,000 gns breeze-up purchase. Beaten 4¼ lengths when tenth in Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot in June and backed that good effort up when second of 13 in maiden at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) in August. Since had a breathing operation and rates the form pick here.
Crystal Dark
Mohaather gelding is related to numerous winners and he made a promising start with second of 7 in 7f novice at Newcastle 4 weeks ago. Finished clear of the rest there and not out of things with improvement very much on the cards.
Green Star (IRE)
Sent off 11/1 for debut but shaped well when second of 8 in maiden at Chester (7f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago, pulling clear of rest. This No Nay Never colt must enter calculations.
Leabank (IRE)
Foaled February 11. 50,000 gns yearling, £47,000 2-y-o, Sioux Nation colt. Dam 1m winner. Wears hood. The market can guide for this newcomer.
Northern Crown (IRE)
Foaled April 5. 78,000 gns yearling, Starman colt. Dam 7f-8.6f winner. Quite an expensive yearling and any market support would be noteworthy.
