Timeform View

Two-time C&D winner CLASSIC ENCOUNTER has strong form claims and may well land a nice pot for shrewd connections. Law Of Design looks the chief threat off his much-reduced mark, while Double Parked is closely matched with the selection on their form from earlier in the season here. Fellow C&D winners Welbury and Rajapour also merit consideration.

Timeform Comments

Theoryofeverything
Beat a subsequent winner when capitalising on a career-low mark at Ayr in August. Hasn't matched that form in a couple of heavy-ground handicaps subsequently. Cheekpieces go on for first time since joining current yard, and he may fare better back under less-testing conditions.
Classic Encounter (IRE)
Has previously hit the frame in much better company than this. Only pipped by another useful sort when bidding to make it 3-3 over C&D in June. Probably been laid out for this since chasing home a couple of next-time-out winners at Lingfield in July. Strong claims.
Welbury
Strong-travelling 3-y-o. Again proved more straightforward than previously when readily completing a double over C&D in August. Wasn't seen to best effect when at York subsequently (raced without cover). Looks well worth another chance to confirm his improvement.
Rajapour (IRE)
Stylish winner of both C&D starts (good) this year. As good as he's been for current yard when narrowly denied on contrasting ground at Hamilton latest. Makes appeal in his current vein of form, though stall 14 isn't the ideal draw.
Double Parked (IRE)
Likely to have landed a third C&D success had he knuckled down better (behind Classic Encounter) here in June. Made amends with a career-best win at York (1¼m) later that month. Only beaten 5 lengths in stronger event at York last time and has to be respected returning to this track.
Nyman (IRE)
Back to form when capitalising on a reduced mark in 7f Thirsk handicap earlier this month. Shaped as if still in good form when 3¾-length fifth in the 'Leger Legends' event at Doncaster, a 6-day turnaround seeming to just take its toll late. Should give a good account following 3-week break.
Wild Dahlia
Low-mileage 3-y-o. Shaped well when close third over C&D on return. Remains on same mark having done plenty wrong both starts since, shaping better than the 1¾-length beaten distance when fourth at Epsom latest. In excellent hands and may yet do better if putting it all together.
Poet's Dawn
Veteran who's won 5 times this year, narrowly completing a hat-trick at Ripon in August. More miss than hit since, though, and Double Parked looks the stable first string.
Barley (IRE)
No match for Welbury here in August. Ended long losing run in a handicap at Carlisle prior to a valiant third in a similar event at Ayr (1m, soft) last time. Probably falls short back up in grade.
Harswell Ruby (IRE)
Successful over 1m at Thirsk in April. Back in similar company (0-70) when returning to form over C&D last time, finishing 4 lengths fourth of 14. Blinkers refitted for this step back up in grade but Joanna Mason looks elsewhere on this occasion.
Up The Jazz (IRE)
Snapped a long losing run at Musselburgh (1m) in June. Might have gone close to doubling his tally for the year with a better-judged ride at Carlisle (9f) in August, however, seemingly had no excuses when well held off the same mark at Ayr subsequently.
Shadow Run (IRE)
Form went the wrong way in Irish handicaps for Michael O'Callaghan. Hasn't kicked on from a promising start for current connections, either, for all he was poorly placed on first crack at 1m (isn't certain to stay) over C&D last time.
Law Of Design (IRE)
Tumbled in the weights since handicap debut for Brian Meehan last season. Has found some form in recent starts, doing well to 'win his race' among the disadvantaged group when 3¾-length third over C&D latest. In a better race than ideal but he's well treated if building on that for in-form stable.
Mount King (IRE)
Again ran only respectably when beaten 5 lengths (behind Harswell Ruby) over C&D last time. Now 3 lb out of the weights in a stronger event and yard has better-fancied runners in here.
