EL CAIROS, a promising novice hurdler last season, probably did well to finish as close as he did having been tight for room on more than one occasion during the latter stages in the Galway Hurdle in July and makes most appeal on these terms. Gaucher has to concede weight all round but arrives fit and in good form from the Flat, so is much respected, while Ebony King is also of interest back in this sphere having showed marked improvement when scoring on the level at Listowel last week.

El Cairos traded at a low of 3.50 and Betfair SP of 7.06 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field and travelled strongly early on.

Gaucher
Smart hurdler who ran a fine race in last year's Galway Hurdle prior to resuming winning ways in Grade 3 at Tipperary, albeit fortunate on the day. Has shown equally smart form on the Flat this year, including when fourth in Group 3 at Leopardstown 3 weeks ago. Much respected back over hurdles.
Balko D'ange (FR)
Useful hurdler who was running well before the turn of the year, including when winning at Navan. This year's efforts not as inspiring, though, and didn't appear to be making up much ground when throwing in a trademark mistake in the heat of the race at Punchestown on latest outing in April.
Ebony King (IRE)
Showed good speed when winning a bumper/maiden hurdle last summer. Acquitted himself well when runner-up in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse in April and showed improved form when opening his account on the level in 1¾m at Listowel last week. Interesting back over hurdles.
El Cairos (FR)
Created a good impression over hurdles last season, winning a maiden at Thurles before finishing fifth in the Supreme at Cheltenham. Disappointing in Grade 1 at Punchestown in April but shaped well fitted with a tongue tie on his handicap debut at Galway (2m) in July and has leading claims.
Mister Pessimistic (IRE)
Point winner who also scored on first 2 starts under Rules, a bumper at Listowel before landing the odds in maiden hurdle at Cork. Found out in top novice company next 2 outings but was again below form back in calmer waters at Punchestown when last seen in April.
Samui
Showed the benefit of a recent run on the level when second of 6 in conditions event at Down Royal (3m, good) in August. Not in the same form at Galway, however, and this return to 2m isn't sure to suit.
