COLIN’S FRIEND improved in a competitive handicap on stable debut at Galway last time and, with further progress likely, he looks worth chancing in an ordinary affair. The Border Boy is well treated at present and looked set to go close when making a last-flight error here last month, so rates the main danger, while Granlahan and Kingdom Calling are also respected.

Timeform Comments

Big Dee (IRE)
Bumper winner but his third at Limerick on handicap debut last Christmas is his only effort of note over hurdles. Claims if returning to that form but a leap of faith required on that front.
Regards To Rose (IRE)
Travelled well when off the mark in 17-runner handicap hurdle at Listowel last autumn. Hasn't matched that level since, but has hinted at a revival on last 2 starts and now finds herself just 1 lb higher than her last winning mark. Market should prove informative.
Bryson (IRE)
Bits and pieces of promise in handicaps but bled at Sligo on his penultimate start and again backed out of things quickly at Bellewstown last time. Makes debut for new yard.
Colin's Friend (IRE)
Showed improved form starting out for current yard when fourth of 20 to Inthenickoftime on handicap debut at Galway in September. In good hands and looks open to further progress.
Solar Generation (IRE)
Hinted at more ability when mid-division in a trio of maidens but can have handicap debut effort ignored after suffering significant interference. Tongue strap back on and remains open to improvement.
Alentejo (IRE)
Fair maiden on Flat but no impact all 5 starts over hurdles.
Footstepstoglory (IRE)
Turned in best effort when second in 2m Limerick handicap hurdle last autumn. Effort at Cork in July is best excused and remains an air of untapped potential about him as a hurdler. Wears first-time tongue strap and needs monitoring in the market.
Kingdom Calling (FR)
Took advantage of a career-low mark when winning Tramore handicap chase in August and shaped as if still in good form when 13¾ lengths fifth of 15 to Marian Avenue in handicap hurdle at Listowel last time. One to consider, with the booking of Jack Kennedy looking a plus.
Romella (IRE)
A 5-time winner, who registered the last of those successes at Tipperary last season. Returns after 10 months off from that same winning mark and with a good-value 5 lb claimer booked, but her record when fresh is mixed at best and she's fast approaching her teenage years.
Granlahan (IRE)
Remains a maiden but has been proving consistent, making the frame for the fourth start in a row when ¾-length second of 18 to Glin Road Boy at Listowel. Should be thereabouts once again.
St Anthonys Corner (IRE)
Went off the boil over hurdles last year before an inauspicious start over fences at Sligo and showed nothing from well out of the handicap in mares event at Ballinrobe on return from 11-month absence.
Mr Macphisto (IRE)
Two-time winner who has shown nothing since returning from a lengthy absence. Wears first-time cheekpieces and booking of good-value conditional catches the eye but very hard to recommend unless the market speaks firmly in his favour.
Sidiriya (IRE)
Remains winless over hurdles but placed at Sligo and Clonmel on first 2 starts this season. Shaped as if still in good form at Ballinrobe on latest outing, still in touch when falling 2 out.
Inches Away (IRE)
Stepped up on her return/yard debut when fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Cork (17f, good to soft) in August. Below that level upped in trip last time.
Mount Hotham (IRE)
Fairly useful form on Flat in France for Andre Fabre back in 2022. Off 3 years and has failed to better poor form in 9 starts over hurdles.
The Border Boy (IRE)
Cork handicap hurdle winner who produced his best effort over fences when fourth of 10 in handicap at Tramore (2¾m) in May. Looked back in form when 1½ lengths fifth of 15 to Pure Logic at this course last time, bad mistake last. Remains on last winning mark and one to consider.
Bossing It (IRE)
Sole success came in Kilbeggan maiden hurdle last summer. Has gone backwards from a promising second in handicap hurdle at Wexford in May and has cut little ice in handicap chases on last 2 starts, unseating on latest. RESERVE.
Good Bye Milan (IRE)
Dual winner over hurdles. Creditable third of 16 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16.9f, good to soft) last spring before running poorly at Wexford. Makes debut for new connections now returning from 15-month absence. RESERVE.
Penny Express (IRE)
Fair maiden hurdler who has finished in the frame on 3 occasions this season, third of 14 in maiden at Wexford on third occasion in August. Best excused last run after stumbling early on the final circuit. Needs to improve back in handicap company. RESERVE.
