STATE PENSION kept his quirks in check when third on hurdles debut at Navan 16 days ago and will take plenty of beating if able to build on that performance. Midtown Manhattan was too free at Ballinrobe in May but should be helped by the drop in trip and looks the main danger, with Crystal Mariner and Farney Bridge also respected.

Has yet to match the pick of his Flat form over hurdles but made a fair start when runner-up in maidens at Ballinrobe in August and Newton Abbot (beaten ¾ length by Explode) in September. Not seen to best effect with hood fitted at Navan last time and no surprise were he to fare better here.
Farney Bridge (IRE)
Bumper winner who produced a reasonably encouraging effort when 16¼ lengths fourth of 15 to promising Reaching High in maiden at Listowel on hurdling debut. Should improve.
Grey Fable (IRE)
Fair Flat winner, including at Dundalk in May. Has shown a bit over hurdles but would be of more interest in a handicap.
State Pension (IRE)
Fairly useful bumper winner that hasn't always looked the most straightforward of characters but made an encouraging start to life over hurdles when 2¼ lengths third of 16 to Dallas Star in maiden at Navan at 16 days ago. Obvious claims if able to build on that performance.
Geashill Poet (IRE)
Made no impact in maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan on debut.
Midtown Manhattan (IRE)
Bred to stay well. Cost a pretty penny following 6½ lengths success on sole start in points. Hooded/too free to justify support in maiden hurdle at Ballinrobe (2¾m) in May. Drop back in trip may well help in the short term and he's entitled to do better for top yard.
Unfortunatecharlie (IRE)
Off mark in points at fourth attempt and looked one for the longer term in this sphere when mid-division in maiden at Kilbeggan last month.
Abando (GER)
Once contested the German Derby but showed only fair form in 1¼m events on the Flat for Jamie Osborne. Shaped as if better for the experience when 10½ lengths third of 13 to Telegram Sam in maiden at Roscommon 7 days ago. Open to improvement.
El Bilo (IRE)
Jet Away gelding, first foal of a dam who stayed 2½m. Related to fairly useful staying hurdler/chaser Know The Score who stayed 3m. Yard can ready a newcomer so any support in the betting should be noted.
Je Suis Celebre
Showed ability on the Flat and looked set to place on debut for this yard when falling 3 out in maiden hurdle at Killarney last month, only a length down in second at the time. That form was boosted by the winner and third but he disappointed at Listowel last time and has a bit to prove now.
Little An Often (IRE)
His pedigree suggests time and distance will be needed, and there was nothing in his Listowel debut to alter that impression.
Paidi's Pet (IRE)
Yeats gelding. Was prominent in the betting for a bumper at Listowel on debut but beaten a fair way. Makes hurdling debut.
