Timeform View

BROKEN ICE shaped well when runner-up at Perth 11 days ago and is taken to go one better. Diamond Tipp has only one standout effort for her current yard but is interesting upped to 3m and looks the main danger, while the well-treated Dinoland and Mickey Cohen are also respected.

Timeform Comments

Joya Del Mar (IRE)
Won handicap hurdles at Downpatrick in May and June before twice running creditably in defeat at the same course. Ran no sort of race tried once more over fences at Ballinrobe last time and, while expected to fare better returned to hurdling, her current mark demands improvement.
Mephisto (IRE)
Completed a hurdles hat-trick last August but has lost his way of late and made no impact in a claiming hurdle last time. Back in a tongue strap and just 1 lb above his last winning mark, but supporters will need to take plenty on trust.
Tippinaway (IRE)
Improved when off the mark by the skin of his teeth in 13-runner maiden hurdle at Clonmel (19.9f, good) in April 2025, but has been lightly raced since and unsurprisingly shaped as if needing the run on return from 17-month absence at Navan in September.
Dinoland (FR)
Much improved for his current yard when landing handicap chases at Downpatrick (3m) and Tramore (2¾m) in May. Not seen since but reverts to hurdling off good mark and obvious claims if ready to go on the back of a 5-month absence.
Midleton Rare (IRE)
Notched his third win of last season for Ian Patrick Donoghue at Bellewstown (3m) in April and bounced back to form on just second start for current yard when second of 19 in 2¾m handicap at Galway last month but has run poorly since and needs to bounce back.
Mickey Cohen (IRE)
Fair form without winning over hurdles but won a maiden chase at Downpatrick last season. Creditable efforts over hurdles first 2 starts this season and shaped as if still in form back over fences last time. Returns to this sphere from lower mark and should be thereabouts.
Sights Unseen (IRE)
Hit-and-miss handicap hurdler who ended last season out of sorts. Has a decent record fresh but debuts for a new yard here, making the market the best guide to expectations.
Diamond Tipp (IRE)
Returned to form when second in a 2¼m Cork handicap hurdle in August. Hasn’t backed that up in 3 starts since but wasn’t seen to best effect latest and is now on a career-low mark. Jack Kennedy back up is a positive and she’s interesting now upped to 3m.
Full Noise (IRE)
Lightly-raced handicap hurdler/chaser who has made the frame on both chase starts since returning from a lengthy absence in August, most recently when third behind Driveonwill at Downpatrick. Returns to hurdling from a higher mark now, though.
Broken Ice (IRE)
Better over hurdles than fences these days and has run creditably on his last 2 starts in this sphere, most recently when a 2¾-length second to Wee Alki at Perth. Rated 5 lb lower on home soil and with a capable 7-lb conditional booked, he's one to consider.
Smackwater Jack (IRE)
Doubled his tally for this yard at Punchestown (3m) in June and backed that up with placed efforts next 2 starts, but seems to have gone off the boil since. Back on last winning mark but needs to bounce back.
Leading Endeavour (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden who could hardly have shown any less in first-time cheekpieces returning from a 17-month absence at Listowel 10 days ago.
Technology (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who ran well when second in a 15-runner handicap at Down Royal in August, with the form boosted by the third winning since. However, he underlined his inconsistency at Clonmel last time and is hard to support with confidence.
