Timeform View

CLAUDETTE showed plenty of encouragement when fifth at Ascot on debut, running green but staying on well once the penny dropped. Open to above-average improvement, she'll take some stopping. Awwjaan shaped as if she'd be better for her opening run and can also improve but the main danger is potentially Dawn Chorus, a very well bred newcomer for Charlie Appleby, who is enjoying another good year with his 2-y-o debutants.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

This could develop into a sprint for home, and Awwjaan could be well placed to capitalise: Of the better-fancied horses, Dawn Chorus is most likely to be ridden furthest from the pace.

Timeform Comments

Awwjaan
Second of 4 in a maiden at Doncaster 24 days ago on debut, looking and shaping as though she'd be better for the run, finishing behind a promising type. Sure to improve with that experience under her belt.
Cherry Amber
Seventh foal, closely related to 7f winner Whispering Song (by Danon Ballade) and half-sister to 1½m-2m winner Knight Templar (by Haafhd). Dam 1m-1½m winner. Yard 0 from 16 with two-year-old debutants this year.
Claudette (FR)
Shaped with plenty of encouragement on debut, finishing fifth of 10 in maiden at Ascot in September, badly in need of experience but staying on well in the closing stages once the penny dropped. Well bred and open to significant improvement.
Dawn Chorus
Third foal, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 7f winner (stays 1¼m) Watching Stars (by Sea The Stars), dam French/German 7.5f-1¼m winner. Yard has a 35% strike rate (11 from 31) with 2-y-o debutants this year so she could add to that tally here.
Endearment (IRE)
190,000Y, fifth foal, half-sister to 3 winners, including useful winner up to 9f Chancellery (2-y-o 1m winner, by Medaglia d'Oro) and winner up to 1¾m Hope You Can Run (2-y-o 1m winner, by Lope de Vega). Yard only 3 from 34 with 2-y-o debutants this year, so one to watch.
Top Marks
6,000F, half-sister to several winners, including winner up to 6f Toomuchforme (by Too Darn Hot) and winner up to 1m Atalayas Spirit (2-y-o 7f winner, by Charm Spirit). Dam, maiden (stayed 1m). Faces stiff ask on debut against leading yards.
Wellbeing
Fifth foal, dam unraced half-sister to winner up to 1¼m Just The Judge and 2-y-o 1m winner (stayed 10.5f) Obliterator (both smart). Yard has a 9% (2 from 21) strike rate with 2-y-o debutants this year.
