Timeform View

WILBUR finished second in a strong course maiden in July and is weighted to go one better on his nursery debut. Likely improver Solar Swing shades the next-best vote ahead of Lion of God.

Timeform Comments

Lion Of God (IRE)
Proved a different proposition when making a successful all-weather debut at Lingfield (7f, 33/1) last time, seen to maximum effect from the front/never looked like getting caught. Still unexposed on this surface and may improve again up in trip on handicap bow.
Wilbur
Shaped well when close second under a hands-and-heels ride on qualifying run here (7f) in mid-July. Opening mark looks lenient given the strength of that form (3 next-time-out winners in behind) and the one to beat if returning from 11 weeks away in the same form (has been gelded).
Solar Swing (IRE)
Good-looking Starman colt whose price rose to 235,000 gns at the sales. Matched his promising debut effort when 1¼-length second (still green) at Kempton (7f) latest. Interesting making a quick switch to handicaps, with improvement expected over the longer trip.
Clive The Writer (IRE)
Confirmed debut promise when winning a Kempton novice (7f) in August. That form has some substance, however, he's gone backwards in a couple of nursery starts at Sandown/Epsom since. Now returns to all-weather (1-1) over a longer trip (didn't get home previous start over 1m).
Out Of This World
Stylish debut winner of a Beverley novice in May. Settled better/back on the up when 3½-length second in first-time hood at Epsom (7f) latest. Needs more again on handicap/all-weather debut, though is bred for this longer trip on his dam's side.
Bassrah
110,000 gns Wootton Bassett filly from a good family. Improved again when fourth behind subsequent winners in valuable maiden on return at Sandown (7f). Disappointed at Ayr (1m) subsequently, though, and will need to resume progress to make a winning all-weather/handicap debut.
