Timeform View

ISLAND BEAR seemed well suited by combination of blinkers and this trip when getting off the mark at Leicester a fortnight ago and with a 3 lb nudge far from excessive, Dr Richard Newland's charge gets the verdict. Colonnade strikes as a potential improver now handicapping so he can give the selection most to do returned to 1m, with course-specialist Guest House and Media Legend taken to fight out third.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Ecclefechan has traded at more than 2 times Betfair SP twice when winning during its last 5 starts: Media Legend traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Drifts Away
Responded very well fitted with headgear in recording back-to-back wins over C&D and on the July Course 8 days later in July. Run of good form halted back from a 7-week break at Newmarket just over a fortnight ago and first-time blinkers are now reached for.
Rogue Allegiance (IRE)
Quirky sort but in fine form since joining James Owen, landing handicaps here (7f) and at Kempton (1m) this summer. His good run came to an abrupt halt at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) just over a fortnight ago, however. Bounce back needed but that's possible.
Gorgeous Mr George (IRE)
Won back-to-back over C&D in June. Excuses next 2 starts but failed to fire over 9f at Newmarket just over a fortnight ago. Hopes pinned on a return to his venue sparking a revival.
Colonnade (IRE)
Placed on 3 of his 4 starts, getting back on track switched to more positive tactics and upped in trip when second of 5 in novice at Bath (1¼m, good to firm) just over 3 weeks ago. Returned to 1m for this handicap debut and every chance he will progress.
Media Legend (IRE)
Maiden who was again sent off favourite and showed improved form when second of 12 in handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to firm), first-time cheekpieces and/or Murphy in the plate both possible catalysts. Nudged up 2 lb for that but one to bear in mind.
Island Bear (IRE)
Built on the promise of last run to shed maiden tag in 13-runner handicap at Leicester (1m, good to firm) a fortnight ago, leading final 50 yds having had to pick way through. 3 lb rise far from insurmountable so every chance of following up.
Venetian Sky (FR)
Not won in 7 starts for top yard but shaped quite well in race not run to suit when second of 5 on handicap debut at Leicester in August. Ran no sort of race back in maiden company at Kempton (1m) last month and she looks more or less exposed now.
Galileo Island (IRE)
Completed 7f double for Marco Botti last year. Changed hands for 34,000 gns and had been gelded prior to an underwhelming stable debut at Epsom last month (hung left). Has a bit to prove back over 1m, having disappointed on his sole previous attempt.
Ecclefechan
Belated step up to 1m the catalyst for back-to-back successes at Windsor/over C&D in August. Probably found out by a quick turnaround when bidding for hat-trick at Windsor but ran below form given a longer break at Newmarket 11 days ago.
You Sexy Thing (IRE)
Off the mark at Sandown last August but hasn't won since. Ran well when fourth of 8 in a handicap over 7f at Ascot last month and did enough to suggest he remains in good nick having been set plenty to do at Ayr since. First-time cheekpieces go on.
Guest House (IRE)
Got back on the up back at his favoured venue when notching his third C&D success of the season in 14-runner event last month, leading close home having been ridden with a lot more restraint. 3 lb nudge fair and warrants considerable respect at this track.
Trinculo
Showed fair form for George Baker but didn't settle anywhere near well enough to see out the longer trip on soft ground in an Ayr handicap (1m) last month. First-time cheekpieces applied but can only be watched at present.
