APEX STAR can gain compensation for his narrow miss over C&D last time. My Mate Kev and Torbados also appeal in a race that could set up for the closers.

Timeform Comments

Preferred
Lightly-raced sprinter looked a work in progress when 2½-length third in a C&D maiden second time up. Didn't improve for the switch to a handicap when beaten 6¾ lengths at Southwell (6f) latest. More needed but still relatively unexposed.
Glowchester
Best effort for Craig Lidster came when runner-up in 5f novice here in September 2024. Shaped as if better for the run following 23-month absence (had breathing operation in interim) at Newcastle last time. Booking of Billy Loughnane catches the eye on second start for current yard.
Torbados
Tactically-versatile maiden. Back sprinting for the first time this season when 1-length second at Southwell (6f), doing his best work in the final 1f. On a handy mark and strong pace could play into his hands if again ridden with restraint.
My Mate Kev
Well backed to capitalise on much-reduced mark several times this season. Best of those efforts when runner-up in this grade at Lingfield (6f, all-weather) in August. Interesting if back in that sort of form.
Geemann
Got off the mark at the tenth time of asking in fairly straightforward fashion at Bath (6f) last month. Again shaped as if ready for 7f when beaten 5½ lengths over the same C&D subsequently. Work to do off only 1 lb lower on all-weather bow.
Apex Star (IRE)
Has found a run of consistency and looked unlucky (forced wider than the winner) when just failing to get off the mark over C&D last time. Well drawn and every chance he makes amends in a race that should be run to suit.
Love Alive
Fallen long way in weights since winning over 5f here in February for Martin Dunne. Some excuses since an encouraging debut for present yard, however, she was beaten fair and square (12¼ lengths) at Kempton (6f, 50/1) latest.
Ezra Cee (IRE)
Free-going sort who clearly hasn't been the easiest to train. Well below form both starts for present yard.
A Lott Of Kane (IRE)
C&D winner who bounced back to winning ways (following a breathing operation) here (5f) in July. Followed up in 6f Lingfield classified event and still looked in good heart when beaten 2½ lengths on hat-trick bid there last time. Stall 10 isn't ideal given his free-going style, though.
Ten Cuidado (IRE)
Standout effort when fourth in 7f maiden here over the winter. Best handicap run when third in cheekpieces at Bath last month. Some mitigation for subsequent below-par run at the same track (5f) and cheekpieces on for only the second time here.
Dr Ali (IRE)
Doubled his tally for the year in a C&D classified event in March. Back to form returned to that company when ½-length second to A Lott of Kane at Lingfield. Needs a bit more back in a handicap.
Piddie's Pearl
Free-going sort. Showed a bit more than previously when 2½ lengths sixth of 11 over C&D on return. Helped by being held up in a well-run race on that occasion and may face a similar scenario here.
Sisters In The Sky
Latest win came off 1 lb higher mark C&D in January. Typically outpaced before plugging on when beaten 5¼ lengths off this mark at Bath last time. Should at least be aided by the run of the race.
