Timeform View

THE DARK BARON has a good record at Wolverhampton and 4 lb rise for his recent C&D success may underestimate him given how well he finished off his race after being right up with the strong gallop. Canvas arrives after back-to-back seconds in big fields and is highly respected, with Faeberon also on the shortlist.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Glen Nevis traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 25% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Canvas has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Canvas
Posted fine efforts when runner-up in big fields at York (1m) and Doncaster (1¼m, good to firm) last month, the reapplication of cheekpieces seemingly key. Can go well again after 3 lb rise.
Cosmos Raj
Back to form when capitalising on a much-reduced mark over 1¼m at Redcar in August and produced easily his best effort of the season when going in again from the front at that same track (1m) last month. Not in same form 24 hours later at Beverley but quick turnaround/poor draw provide excuses.
Moonjid
Bounced back to best to double his tally over 1¼m here in June, albeit having the run of the race. Has lacked for consistency since, failing to beat a rival in a 8-runner handicap at that same C&D 36 days ago.
My Girl Grace (IRE)
Made a winning debut at Leopardstown in June but rather underwhelming in 3 handicap outings since. Down in trip for tapeta debut having left G. M. Lyons.
Glen Nevis
Improved when close second of 7 at Newmarket (1m, good) in August and possibly unsuited by very testing ground when well held at Beverley next time. Fewer excuses for another below-par effort at Leicester 2 weeks ago, though, and now sports a visor.
Criminal
Still a maiden but he went close on all-weather at Lingfield (1¼m) in April and having had excuses on his penultimate outing, confirmed himself as still in form when second of 10 in handicap at Salisbury (1¼m, good, 5/1). Worth betting check on return from 113 days off having left Richard Hughes.
Little Miss India (IRE)
Quirky sort but successful twice here earlier in the year, the latest over C&D in March and stepped up on her return from a 5-month break when fourth of 7 in handicap at this C&D 17 days ago.
Magician Of Riga (IRE)
Won back-to-back all-weather handicaps at up to 1½m in April. Advanced his form again when third of 10 here (9.5f) in June and wasn't beaten far at all when fifth of 7 in handicap (12/1) at Newbury (1¼m, firm) 88 days ago (gelded since). Has widest stall to overcome.
Faeberon (IRE)
Much improved since sent handicapping, getting off the mark in first-time cheekpieces over C&D in June. Backed up that effort when 2½ lengths third of 13 at Ayr (1¼m, good to firm) the following month and not disgraced despite failing to land the odds at Southwell (11f) 35 days ago. Now in visor.
Cotswold Cottage
Dual winner in 2025, including when making all at Haydock on final outing of the season. Shaped as if better for the run after 11 months off when seventh of 10 in handicap at Kempton (1m) 54 days ago and likely to be more competitive this time (won second time out last year).
The Dark Baron (IRE)
Better than ever when notching a third course success in a 12-runner C&D handicap 20 days ago. Did well to sustain a strong gallop there and he's highly respected after 4 lb rise.
