Timeform View

ALPHA MAGIC has tumbled down the weights and shaped best after 8 weeks off when only just failing to reel in reopposing Fiscal Policy over C&D 18 days ago, the trouble he met arguably costing him. He gets the nod to confirm the promise of that run, with Fierce who shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests at Beverley, Fiscal Policy and Veydari others to consider.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Fierce traded at 25% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on 3 of its last 5 starts: Alpha Magic has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP 3 times on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Cargin Bhui (IRE)
Dual 6f winner on all-weather earlier this year who is yet to score on turf but had heavy ground as a plausible excuse returning from 5 months off at Haydock (6f) 31 days ago. Forecast quicker ground a plus here but he's less-than-ideally drawn in stall 11.
Invincible Boy (IRE)
Landed a soft ground C&D novice on reappearance in April but yet to build on that in trio of handicap starts this summer, only fifth of 7 in 6f contest at Carlisle 6 weeks ago. Handicapper eases his grip further and he is tried in a visor.
Fortamour (IRE)
Back-to-back winner of all-weather handicaps in November and easily best effort of this season back at his beloved Ripon when second there in May. Not in anything like the same form either start during the summer (latterly at 7f) but freshened up ahead of this.
Fiscal Policy (IRE)
Enhanced his already very good record here when registering a third C&D success in August and ran respectably having escaped a rise when fourth up in grade back over C&D 11 days ago. Can remain competitive following a 2 lb nudge.
Veydari (IRE)
Heavy ground C&D winner at this meeting 2 years ago for Richard Fahey. Has yet to add to his tally for present stable but shaped well having gone off hard when second on return here in June. Had breathing operation prior to finishing third at Hamilton (5f) 2 weeks ago and he ought to be sharper now.
Alpha Magic
Under a cloud for most of this season but fallen some way in the weights as a result and he shaped best after 8 weeks off when just denied by Fiscal Policy in a C&D handicap 18 days ago. That looks solid form for the grade and he's one to be interested in again on the back of a 1 lb rise.
Mister Sox
Enjoyed a productive 2025 with 4 victories, including over C&D from 2 lb higher. Mixed record this season, not disgraced when sixth returned to this C&D 11 days ago. This rates a less demanding assignment.
Emperor's Son (IRE)
Successful twice for Richard & Peter Fahey in first half of 2026 and steadily finding his feet for new stable, gambled on when posting a good second of 6 in handicap at Redcar (5f) 12 days ago, denied a run 2f out. Tricky draw to overcome but not entirely dismissed.
Bloodsweatandtyres
All-weather novice winner whose record is patchy this year but more encouraging signs in blinkers of late, catching the eye and proving himself as effective on turf when sixth behind Fiscal Policy in a C&D handicap 18 days ago. Unexposed as a sprinter if he can build on that with visor now fitted.
Great
Successful twice this summer, doing well to reel in the leaders given how the race developed for the latest of them over 5f here in August. Below best next 2 starts but back on track when third at Newcastle (5f) 16 days ago and each-way claims.
Fierce (IRE)
Dual winner last season including over C&D who has performed well in defeat throughout 2026, posting a good second at Southwell (6f) prior to shaping much better than distance beaten suggests at Beverley (5f) 3 weeks ago, badly hampered entering final 1f. Interesting back at this longer trip.
Try Storm Cat (IRE)
Won a C&D novice last summer and decent second at Kempton on return in January but hasn't threatened in handful of starts on all-weather/turf subsequently. A 4-month break needs to have had positive effect and he's another with a wide draw to deal with.
King's Crown (IRE)
Won twice on all-weather at Newcastle last winter. Bit better than the bare result on turf of late, finishing second of those who raced in near side group when tenth in big-field Ayr handicap (5f) 18 days ago. This looks tougher, however.
Valentine Catcher
Enduring a lengthy barren spell but placed on 3 of last 4 starts and not seen to best effect having met with trouble in running when fifth at Ripon (6f) 9 days ago. Never been lower in the weights but stall 14 makes things tricky.
