From her reduced mark, STORMY IMPACT was back on her game when runner-up at Hamilton 2 weeks ago. With the return to 6f in her favour and pretty fresh for this time of year, she could be the answer. Given his winning spree, it's surprising to see a tongue tie back on Classy Clarets but he has to be feared in his current mood, with Bell Shot also of interest.

Timeform Comments

Cape Ashizuri (IRE)
Lightly-raced 3-y-o who doubled his tally in a 3-y-o C&D handicap on reappearance. Shaped as if back in form when 5½ lengths fourth of 9 at Ascot (6f) in August. Eases in grade from sliding mark now but suspicion he needs to pull out a bit more.
Sovereign Spell (IRE)
Looked on the up when landing 6f Wolverhampton maiden and handicap at Newmarket this spring. Not at his best when 2¾ lengths seventh of 11 at Newmarket (6f) before being set a stiff task at Royal Ascot. Given a break (gelded) and eases in class back over 6f but stall 12 is an issue.
Stormy Impact
Winner of the 3YO Dash at Epsom in 2025 and made a winning all-weather debut the following month. Pitched into an easier race from her reduced mark and found only one too good at Hamilton (5f) 2 weeks ago. Back over 6f and she can be a big factor.
Artagnan (IRE)
Tongue tie worked the oracle when doubling tally at Chelmsford (6f) a year ago. Sound in-frame efforts on 3 of 4 starts in 2026 and he's since left Hamad Al Jehani. Stall 11 could have been better.
Sergeant Wilko (IRE)
Forward-going type who nearly snapped a long losing run with a borderline useful effort on first crack over 7f at Thirsk in May. No easy task when bidding to make all in better company at Newcastle next time and chance he just needed it at Haydock a month ago. Better expected here back in trip.
Novello Lad
Has gone off the boil since completing a 6f double at Doncaster in June, unable to land a blow on rare 5f start back there 3 weeks ago. On the plus side, he is now below last winning mark.
Alpha Capture (IRE)
Cemented a solid start for this yard when off the mark for 2026 at Doncaster in June (7f). Runner-up 3 times since and possible to excuse last 2 lesser runs but he could do with cutting out the tardy starts.
Bell Shot (IRE)
Recorded a ninth win of his career at Southwell on New Year's Day. Eased in the weights and runner-up on last 2 starts when tackling 6f, latterly over C&D 11 days ago. Can make his presence felt.
Physique (IRE)
Ended long losing run at Newmarket (7f) in June. Assessor has looked in control since but this is a rare 6f start and he has stall 1 to work with.
Kosometsuke
Looked as good as ever returning for new yard when narrow winner over 7f at Thirsk in April. Given his running only once since, though. Back in trip after a breathing operation.
Brighton Boy (IRE)
Returned to his best when opening his account for current yard at Thirsk (7f) in May. Back to form when close third at Chester (6f, good) in August and shaped as if still in good nick when fifth over 7f at Haydock next time. Brushed aside in deeper Ayr Bronze Cup latest.
Classy Clarets (IRE)
Arrives firmly at the top of his game, narrowly completing a 4-timer in 8-runner event at Hamilton (5f, firm) in July and after a runner-up effort at Catterick, he never looked like being caught at Southwell a month ago. Tongue tie surprisingly back on but cannot be taken lightly up in class.
