Timeform View

ALWAYS BLUE has far fewer miles on the clock than most and provided her ability can be channelled more efficiently than it was at Thirsk 3 weeks ago, Harriet Bethell's filly has every chance of going one better. On The Inlet shaped really well when fourth at Brighton last week and if cutting out his slow starts, he rates a big danger. Regal Desire and Galba can fight out minor honours.

Timeform Comments

Selection (IRE)
Dual winner who notched a third runner-up finish of the year when going close over C&D in May. Disappointed when beaten 8¾ lengths over C&D a month later but back on her game when fourth at Ayr (1m, soft) just under 3 weeks ago. One to consider from a handy draw.
Phone Tag
Three wins from 8 runs last year, the latest over 9f at Newmarket in October. Probably needed run on return there in May and now drops back in grade.
Amidst The Chaos (IRE)
Gained a first success of 2026 over C&D in June. Placed twice in recent starts but run of good form halted at Doncaster (1¼m, good to firm) last month. Drops back in trip and cheekpieces are reapplied, but he looks to have his work cut out from stall 13.
Mwafaq (IRE)
Recorded win number 5 at Doncaster in July and went close to completing a second hat-trick when touched off at Hamilton next time. Remained in form when seventh of 9 at Newcastle (1¼m) last month, not seeing his race out having failed to settle. Return to 1m a plus, stall 12 not so much.
Swift Salian (IRE)
Runner-up on his first 3 runs at 1m this season but proving inconsistent of late, fifth of 8 at Ayr (1m, heavy) 6 days ago.
Regal Desire (FR)
Runner-up on debut in 1m Southwell maiden in May before looking unlucky not to go one better in similar company at Beverley (1m) following month. Ran too badly to be true back from a break at Newcastle recently and remains with potential now handicapping. First-time hood applied.
On The Inlet (IRE)
Bagged a pair of 7f/1m all-weather handicaps in the spring. Went like the best horse at the weights when fourth of 10 at Brighton (1m, good) last week, but his poor position was his own doing. Every chance from this mark but his slow starts temper enthusiasm.
Arkenstaar
Thrived last autumn when a 3-time 1m winner (including this race). Ran well when third at Hamilton on return in May but below par all 3 starts since, most recently when tailed off at Ayr (1m, heavy) 6 days ago.
Galba
Maiden who has made a positive start for new stable, making it 3 placings on the spin when third of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good) just under 3 weeks ago. This return to 1m should suit so no surprise if he's bang there again.
Always Blue
Knocking at the door and would have gone even closer to breaking her duck had she applied herself better under pressure when second of 9 in handicap at Thirsk (1m, good) 3 weeks ago, carrying head awkwardly/hanging right 2f out. Chance if her ability can be channelled more efficiently.
Garden Oasis
Veteran who has produced several placed efforts this campaign but had little chance of lasting out over 1¼m having faced competition for the lead at Nottingham 4 days ago. Drops back in trip and merits respect with a visor on for the first time in a couple of years.
Mount King (IRE)
Four-time C&D winner, his latest in July. Rather in-and-out of form since and could never get competitive from 3 lb out of the weights at Redcar on Saturday.
Perfidia (IRE)
Notched a second win of the season when making all at Nottingham in June. Hit and miss since, failing to perform on the deepest ground he's encountered when ninth of 12 at Ayr (1m, soft) last month. Now just 2 lb above his last winning mark.
Captain Corelli (IRE)
Successful on 4 of his 5 starts on turf during 2024 but failed to find the same form last year and it has been a similar tale following another breathing operation this campaign.
