Timeform View

ENGRAVED found the jump up to listed class too tough an ask at Doncaster last time and James Fanshawe's charge is taken to belatedly confirm debut promise by getting off the mark here. One For Bruce started well when third at Newmarket and appeals as the chief threat with progress very much on the cards, although newcomers Unerring and Sayaarr could also have a say, especially if the market speaks in their favour.

Timeform Comments

Champion Crown (IRE)
Off 3 months (gelded/breathing operation) and fitted with cheekpieces when seventh of 11 in 6f novice here 12 days ago. May do better still with that run under his belt.
Distant Sun
Australia gelding has been well held in 1m novices at Windsor and Pontefract this summer. Lots more is needed.
Engraved
200,000 gns breeze-up purchase. Made a promising start with second in 7f Ffos Las maiden in August but stiff task when well held in listed race at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 25 days ago. Remains with potential back in these calmer waters.
Fourth Crusade (IRE)
Well-related St Mark's Basilica colt but well held in 7f novices at Epsom and Ffos Las last month. The sort to do better in due course.
Geometry
Kodiac colt shaped encouragingly when third of 7 in novice at Newcastle (7f, 11/8) on his debut 31 days ago. Clearly thought capable of better and not out of things.
Maxton
Kingman colt showed promise when a debut fourth in maiden at Lingfield (6f, all-weather) but seemed ill-at-ease on track when sixth of 14 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Remains open to improvement.
Meeting Point
Foaled May 1. Space Blues colt. Closely related to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Desert Order. Noteworthy newcomer, especially if the market vibes are positive.
One For Bruce
Sent off 5/2 when a promising debut third of 6 in novice at Newmarket (6f, good) in August, running on when hampered late on. This son of Ubettabelieveit seems sure to build on it. Likely player.
Red Caberneigh
Foaled March 2. A'ali colt. Dam 6f-7.6f winner. The betting can prove an accurate indicator for this newcomer.
Sayaarr (IRE)
Foaled April 12. 170,000 gns yearling, Dark Angel colt. Brother to French 2-y-o 5.5f/6f winner Kumite and half-brother to 5f winner Al Wosol. In good hands and appeals on paper so needs considering.
Speyside
Promising initial third in 7f Goodwood maiden but went backwards when well held in another 7f maiden at York later in August. Worth another chance.
Ten Clarets (IRE)
Fair form when in the frame on his first 4 starts but a below-par ninth of 15 in sales event at the Curragh (6f, good to soft) last time. Makes all-weather debut with cheekpieces back on.
Unerring (IRE)
Foaled March 13. Camelot colt. Brother to useful 2-y-o 8.6f winner Alexandroupolis and also a half-brother to 6f winner Music Banner. Hooded for debut but represents top yard and must be of interest.
Wadacre Gabriel
22/1, last of 7 in 7f novice at Newcastle on debut 31 days ago. Significantly more is required from this Invincible Spirit colt.
