Timeform View

TWELVE BARS ran to a pretty high figure when runner-up starting out at Newmarket 2 weeks ago and expected to build on that, he looks the answer. There is plenty of depth to this novice though, with Lancaster Tower and debut winner Byzantine on the shortlist.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

The pace doesn’t look like being overly strong here and Lancaster Tower should still be served best by being ridden prominently: The leaders will have to go harder than the predicted pace forecast if the hold-up horses such as Palladino are going to come into things.

Timeform Comments

Byzantine (IRE)
Half-brother to 7f winner Lone Fighter and 1¾m winner Open Secret. Dam, 2-y-o 7.6f winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 1¾m Parlour Games out of Irish/Yorkshire Oaks winner Petrushka. Took advantage of an errant rival (who is now very useful) when making winning debut at Yarmouth in May.
Fenaroli
Foaled March 16. Frankel colt. Brother to 1½m winner Keeper and closely related to useful winner up to 1¼m Dissolution. Dam 7f winner. Plenty to like on paper.
Kaboom (IRE)
Made an unpromising start to his career when sixth of 7 over 6f at Newmarket 62 days ago. In good hands but major improvement needed.
Lancaster Tower
Bred in the purple. Warm order when very encouraging 1¾ lengths third to a subsequent listed winner in a strong Sandown novice (7f) on debut. Too free to show true worth at York a month later but hood goes on switched to all-weather and much better expected this time.
Odell (IRE)
Foaled February 28. €80,000 foal, Sea The Moon colt. Half-brother to 3 winners, including smart 6f winner (including at 2 yrs) Invictus Gold and useful 2-y-o 6f winner Nurse Barbara. In need of the experience when sixth of 8 on August's debut at Goodwood.
Oldbullyoungbull (IRE)
Foaled February 12. 70,000 gns Blue Point colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 6f winner Better And Better. Promising start amidst greenness when fourth of 9 at Leicester on debut a month ago. Sure to progress.
Palladino (FR)
Foaled February 11. €260,000 yearling, Kingman colt. Dam, 11.4f winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m Lillie Langtry and smart winner up to 1¼m Count of Limonade. Appealing newcomer.
Red Wizard
150,000 gns breeze-up purchase by No Nay Never colt. Dam, useful French winner up to 9f (Prix Chloe and 2-y-o 1m winner), half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Treble Tee. Limited short-term promise on last month's Newbury debut.
Twelve Bars (IRE)
€55,000 yearling, 40,000 gns 2-y-o, Space Blues colt. Half-brother to 6f winner Miracleoftheandes and Italian 7.5f winner Mammami. Dam twice-raced half-sister to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Bayroot. Knew his job and made a very promising start when second at Newmarket 12 days ago. One to beat.
Work Like Hell
Foaled February 11. 95,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot colt. Closely related to useful 7f winner Nakeeb. Dam useful French 1m/9f winner. Makes appeal on pedigree and offered plenty to work on when third of 5 behind a pair with experience at Thirsk in August (both of whom won since).
