CHARACTER TESTING has finished behind Littletown Lad the last twice at this venue but he did shape quite a bit better than the result last time and from these better terms with a promising conditional rider booked, he can reverse the form now. American Empire is of some interest among those at longer odds.

Dual winning pointer but pulled up all 3 starts in that sphere in 2026. Shaped as if amiss on last month's hurdles debut but turned out 9 days later, he caused a huge surprise at this venue. Plenty went his way on that occasion and he was brushed aside at Bangor under a penalty. Mark looks stiff.
Character Testing
Went with bags of enthusiasm in a refitted visor when chasing home Littletown Lad over C&D in August. Shaped as though still in form despite finishing further behind that rival back here 3 weeks ago and now has the services of a good-value conditional.
Littletown Lad (IRE)
Strong traveller who has settled better of late and it has resulted in a pair of C&D wins, produced to lead close home 3 weeks ago. Up further 7 lb but remains one to be very positive about.
American Empire (IRE)
Fair bumper winner. Long way below his (placed) maiden hurdle form in handicaps since May but this trip is at least more suitable than last time. Blinkers replace cheekpieces.
Natural Ability (IRE)
Placed twice over fences during the spring before suffering a heavy defeat at Hexham in May. Off since and this a very rare hurdling start.
The Poet's Way (IRE)
No form for T. G. McCourt in Ireland. Hood back on.
Clean Getaway (IRE)
Capitalised on a drop in the weights when scoring over fences here (2m) in April, his fifth course success. Mixed record since, though, merely keeping on at the one pace when third of 5 over fences last month. Visor replaces usual cheekpieces.
Battle Stride (USA)
Remains winless and little in the way of worthwhile form over hurdles for this stable.
Sweet Cicely
Long-standing maiden on the Flat and hard to draw many positives from her qualifying runs over hurdles.
Mr Globalist (IRE)
Long-standing maiden who ran one of this season's better races when third to Littletown Lad over C&D last month. Fared as well as could be expected from out of the weights back here latest.
