Timeform View

Both AKARAKA and Northern Viola promise to be well served by this further step up in distance, with marginal preference for the former given his runner-up effort at Thirsk appeals as pretty strong form for the grade.

Timeform Comments

Crown Ranger (IRE)
Wasn't beaten far by a subsequent listed winner in a slowly-run race on qualifying outing at Sandown (1m) and improved when third on nursery debut over the same C&D last month. Didn't see 9f out as well as might have been expected at Yarmouth latest and he's now up an extra 1f.
Kanzi
Ghaiyyath filly who confirmed the promise of her Ayr debut second when landing the odds over 1m at Lingfield (all-weather) in August. Folded quite tamely on nursery debut 3 weeks later but she's in the right hands and given a break, she now goes up in distance.
Akaraka
Brought along steadily over inadequate trips in maiden/novices and on the back of a gelding operation, he showed more when second of 9 in a 1m nursery at Thirsk a month ago. Further step up in distance can only help his cause.
Foscarini (IRE)
Took a step forward on his third run when second of 5 in novice at Brighton in August. However, he wasn't in the same form when down the field in nursery at Newbury last time, unable to get away with racing freely on that occasion. Now goes up significantly in distance.
Northern Viola
Became first winner sired by Stradivarius when landing 5-runner nursery at Beverley 3 weeks ago, suited by increase in trip to 8.5f. Limit not yet reached as stamina is drawn out further so has to be of major interest.
