A competitive handicap, with SIGLIOSA, who travelled as if ahead of his rating at Chester last time, chanced to get off the mark faced with these quicker conditions. Kokoluna is respected after being awarded a race at Goodwood last month, whilst Edwin Hubble also merits consideration.

Timeform Comments

Marhaba The Champ
Useful at best for Kevin Ryan but he's essentially a tricky customer in both codes nowadays and is impossible to recommend returned to the Flat after 106 days off.
Amancio
Hurdle winner who gained a third Flat success at Carlisle (9f) in June. Raced too freely when well held back over jumps at Cartmel next time and again proved a tricky ride when down the field returned to the Flat at Doncaster 4 weeks ago.
Patrol (IRE)
Added to a good record at Southwell when snapping a lengthy losing run in an 8-runner handicap (15/8) there (1½m) 11 days ago. Forced back up in grade now after 2 lb rise.
Edwin Hubble (IRE)
Responded well to headgear when off the mark in a 3-runner handicap at Sandown (1¼m) last month and progressed when third of 9 at the same C&D (clear of rest) 3 weeks ago. Can be involved again.
Great Blasket (IRE)
Justified support in comfortable fashion for new connections at Nottingham (1m) in July and similar form when placed all 3 outings since, faring best of those that raced up with the strong pace when second of 10 in handicap at Beverley (1¼m, good, 4/1) 21 days ago.
Porth Eilian
Made a successful handicap debut at Hamilton (1m) in May and doubled her tally at Beverley (8.5f) in July. Back on track after a couple of lesser efforts when chasing home an upwardly-mobile sort in a 9-runner handicap at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) 18 days ago. Up in trip.
Sigliosa
Bits and pieces of promise in maidens in Ireland last year and has shaped quite well in 2 handicaps for this yard, travelling best but not really finding a change of gear off the bridle when third of 11 in handicap at Chester (12.3f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Still a fresher horse than most.
Double Red
Frequent slow starter who made a winning return at Lingfield (1¼m) in April. Back to form with his regular headgear discarded when fourth of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Newbury (1¼m, good to firm) 19 days ago and is now back on his last winning mark.
Sapphire Steps (IRE)
Benefited from the return to 7f when fifth of 14 on her Newbury return, finishing to good effect. Hasn't really built on that promise in 4 starts since, though, arguably a shade closer to the pace than ideal when sixth of 8 in handicap at Ascot (7f, good) 33 days ago. Significantly up in trip.
Kokoluna
Much improved when making a successful handicap debut here (8.5f) on return and found some improvement after a 3-month break to double her tally in a 12-runner race at Goodwood (1¼m, good) 40 days ago, forcing a photo before being awarded the race in the stewards' room. 3 lb rise looks fair.
Plan C (IRE)
Steadily progressive across 3 runs at 2 yrs and produced his best effort in handicaps when third of 7 at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft, 5/1) 26 days ago, despite not getting the clearest of runs. Might need more again if he's to get off the mark.
Del Corso
Back-to-back winner of small-field events over C&D (1¼m) in July/August. Progress has seemingly levelled off but he again emerged with credit when second of 7 at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) 26 days ago.
