Timeform View

ERNIE'S VALENTINE looked back in form when runner-up at C&D 3 weeks ago and he can go one place better from a very workable mark. Captain Cess, Spirit Lead Me and Have You A Minute are also shortlisted.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Spirit Lead Me has traded at 50% or less of Betfair SP twice on its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Enpassant (IRE)
Twice a winner on all-weather earlier this year for Michael Herrington. Creditable third of 8 on debut for current yard at Newcastle early last month but consistency isn't his strong suit and he was a bit below that level when fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (7f, 16/1) 14 days ago.
King Of York (IRE)
All 5 career wins over 7f here but lost his form in the spring and was well held on his return from 5 months off here 2 weeks ago.
Ernie's Valentine
Won at Wolverhampton last November and though he's yet to score this term, he travelled notably well when second of 12 in handicap at this C&D 21 days ago. Still 5 lb below last winning mark and has to be taken seriously.
Spirit Lead Me (IRE)
Back-to-back winner on the all-weather last autumn, including at C&D, and he showed some spark for the first time this season when sixth of 13 in handicap (8/1) at Kempton (1m) 29 days ago. Interesting from a mark that eased another 2 lb since.
Moon Beginnings (IRE)
Successful at Chester (7f) on debut a year ago but hasn't gone on in handicaps, finishing down the field on his last 4 outings. Blinkers now reached for.
Shaw Park (IRE)
Sporting first-time cheekpieces, he took a step back in the right direction dropped to a sprint trip for the first time when third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6f, 11/2) 6 days ago. Shouldn't be inconvenienced by step back up in trip.
Union Island (IRE)
Narrow winner at Leicester (1m) in May and returned to form having slipped back to that winning mark when third of 9 in handicap at Ayr (1m, good to firm) 73 days ago. 1 lb lower again this time and holds place claims.
Captain Cess (IRE)
Off the mark at the second attempt for this yard at Thirsk (7f) in July and remained in good form since, latest when good second of 11 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good, 5/2) 30 days ago, just failing. Not taken lightly on tapeta debut.
Volto Di Medusa (IRE)
Won 1m handicap at Lingfield in June and emerged with credit since being refitted with blinkers on his last 3 outings, most recently when fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 17 days ago. Can give a good account but others rate as likelier winners.
Man Of Desert
Runner-up at Yarmouth in July and ran respectably from a mark that is edging down when sixth of 14 in handicap (20/1) there (1m, good) 21 days ago. Might need bit more if he's to shed his maiden tag, though.
Asian Journey (IRE)
Off the mark at Wolverhampton in June and ran at least as well when placed on his next 2 outings. Player from this mark if ready after 104 days off.
Big Alex Walmsley
Ran up to his best on just his second all-weather outing when fourth of 14 in handicap (18/1) at this C&D 12 days ago. More likely required again here.
Pretty Spirited
Successful twice last summer. Positive start for this yard when chasing home a subsequent winner at Nottingham in August and not disgraced back on softer going at Sandown. Underperformed back on all-weather last time, though.
Have You A Minute
Got back on track 2 months after his reappearance when second at C&D in August and confirmed his return to form when third of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 23 days ago, suited by strong pace. Looks competitive on form.
