Timeform View

The vote goes to FORTY YEARS ON, who has proved most progressive in handicaps this season. She looks well worth another chance at listed level, with the forecast rain certainly no harm to her chances. Dance In The Storm again showed plenty of speed when fifth in the Ayr Gold Cup and is still relatively unexposed as a sprinter. She's feared most ahead of The Prettiest Star, who has some classy form, while fast-improving Zen Diva also needs a close look.

Timeform Comments

Dance In The Storm
On the up when overcoming less-than-ideal circumstances to win pair of 7f handicaps at Chester this season. Showed plenty of speed in top-end 6f handicaps since, again strong in betting with 4¼-length fifth in Ayr Gold Cup (heavy) latest. Interesting back under less testing conditions.
Forty Years On (IRE)
Progressed again/enhanced fine strike rate with a smart win at Goodwood (7f, soft) in August. Not ideally placed when 2¼-length fourth in Group 3 Sceptre at Doncaster (7f, good to firm, 5/4) latest. Has the speed for 6f and well worth another chance, especially with rain forecast.
Magic Basma (IRE)
Useful filly whose sole success came on debut at Carlisle in 2024. Underlined her consistency when close fourth in Chester listed event (7f) prior to ending up on the wrong part of the track in the Sceptre last time. Versatile regards trip/ground but may again find a couple too good.
Cherry Baker
Useful effort when making a bold bid for a Chester double (6f) in May. Taken off her feet over 5f in the Palace of Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot subsequently. Should at least be sharper for her 3¾-length fifth on return at Yarmouth last month, especially with first-time cheekpieces added.
Golden Palace
Started out 2-2 in novices at Beverley/York before creditable run in Cheveley Park here last year. Best effort this season when third in a weaker listed race at Musselburgh (7f) in June. Colin Keane booked for return to sprinting, having made no impression in the Sceptre (7f, 150/1) last time.
Hollywood Treasure (IRE)
Listed juvenile winner who ran well to finish second in a fillies listed event at Goodwood on return. Seemingly found life tougher against older horses/away from her own sex at Salisbury later in May, though subsequent 4-month absence suggests she may not have been 100%.
Isle Of Fernandez
Improved third in a Deauville Group 3 (7f) on return and acquitted herself well when mid-field in the French 1,000 Guineas a month later. Only seen twice since, again not seeing out her race following further 7 weeks away in Sceptre (7f) latest. Plenty to find on the figures reverted to sprinting.
Lady Youmzain (IRE)
Low-mileage 3-y-o who started her career 2-2 at Beverley/Pontefract. Some substance to the form of her length second in listed company at Sandown in June. Entitled to come on for her return at Ayr (beaten 6½ lengths) but needs a fair bit more, even with Ryan Moore taking over.
Midnight Tango
Nearly doubled her tally when much-improved second in Group 3 Pavilion Stakes (6f) on return. Again promised more than she delivered when beaten 6¾ lengths in a listed race at Ascot (7f) 6 days ago. Could hit the frame if first-time tongue strap has desired effect on return to sprinting.
Rogue Attraction (IRE)
Fairly useful handicapper. Again showed plenty of speed when going close in Class 4 handicap at Carlisle in late-August. Well positioned but seemingly no fluke about her hitting the frame in an Ayr listed event (5.5f, soft, 66/1) subsequently. Going the right way and could outrun her odds again.
Ruby's Angel (IRE)
Useful-looking filly who's won twice over 6f to date. Form of her second in Pontefract listed race in August has taken a few knocks. Didn't confirm that apparent improvement when down the field in the Sceptre last time, either, for all she wasn't ideally placed.
Sing The Blues (IRE)
Ex-William Haggas filly. Improved again when making it 2-2 for present yard in a big-field handicap at Glorious Goodwood. Wasn't up to the task when well held in listed company at Pontefract 7 weeks ago, for all it's still relatively early days.
The Prettiest Star
Useful filly. Runner-up in Rockfel as juvenile/shaped well when fourth in 1000 Guineas on return. Didn't fully settle when resuming progress with a 2-length third in the Group 3 Sceptre at Doncaster (7f) last time. Could do better again returning to 6f for first time since her debut success.
Zen Diva
Highly-progressive sprinter for top yard. Kept up to her work when landing a fourth success from 5 starts this season at Salisbury (6f, good to soft) last month (form hasn't worked out). Current trajectory suggests she may well hold her own up in class, though.
