Timeform View

CAPITANO JOSEPI looks a steal having been picked up for a song this year given he made a taking winning debut at Yarmouth and given he'll know more this time, a bigger performance may well be forthcoming. Eve Johnson Houghton has already had a very productive 2026 in sales races and Everatease is favoured by these weights, so needs taking very seriously. Regency Royal completes the shortlist.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

A strongly contested lead could count against Nakila Sun and Ongombo, who are expected to contest that lead: Such a hotly-contested pace as is on the cards here may be to the benefit of Capitano Josepi and Everatease who can be expected to be ridden with restraint.

Timeform Comments

Waasil
Progressive son of Ardad who made it 2 wins from 3 starts in a 4-runner nursery at Newbury (7f) towards the end of July. Ran at least as well when third over 1m at Doncaster 4 weeks ago but needs to find another jolt of progress conceding weight all round.
Dontlookanyfurther (IRE)
Space Traveller colt who found further improvement when supplementing his Redcar novice win under a penalty at Thirsk last month. Was very impressive on latter occasion but sent off a warm order, flopped badly on nursery debut at Ayr 3 weeks ago. Now goes up in distance.
Regency Royal (GER)
Shaped very well from a poor position when staying on strongly for second over 6f at Chester on debut in July. No impact in a maiden at Glorious Goodwood (7f) but back at Chester he was a ready winner 4 weeks ago. That form puts him in the mix.
Turnstile
Improvement looked to have stalled but following 9 weeks off/gelding operation, he stepped forward to make a winning nursery debut at Ayr (6f, soft), relishing the more testing conditions. In nothing like the same form at Pontefract on Monday and has his work cut out here.
Nakila Sun (GER)
Raced freely but saw out 1m well when off the mark at the third attempt in a Windsor novice in August. That isn't form to be getting carried away with but he's in the right hands to go on from that.
Capitano Josepi (IRE)
Picked up for just 1,000 gns this year and looks an absolute bargain as he landed a few bets on debut at Yarmouth in August, overcoming a tardy start and greenness. Expected to build on that and could be a big player.
Ongombo
Fared as well as could be expected when mid-field in a sales race at Doncaster and turned out 11 days ago, made the most of an easier opportunity at Ffos Las (6f). More needed back in this company but 7f ought to be within range.
Sanbona Warrior (IRE)
Promising start when second at Kempton and held off a couple of next-time-out winners when going one better at Doncaster (7f, firm) in July. Below expectations when fourth of 7 in nursery at Newmarket but fitted with cheekpieces, a runner-up effort back at Doncaster was much more like it.
Theheatison
Novice winner at Bath in July and has shown better form in defeat since, including second in a big-field nursery at the Ebor meeting along with another runner-up effort at Newbury. Isn't obviously capable of better
Scienza
£40,000 yearling, Bated Breath colt. Half-brother to 7f winner Jungle Knight. Showed only greenness on debut at Newmarket but more like it when fifth at Kempton. This is a difficult ask at this stage of his career, though.
Aljoon (IRE)
Gelded and just about best effort yet when landing 7f maiden at Wolverhampton 18 days ago. Needs to raise his game again to trouble a few of these.
Chan Noir
Won on debut at Nottingham in June but hasn't built on that as hoped twice since, not looking an easy ride when fourth at Salisbury in August. Tackles 7f for the first time.
Alberich (IRE)
Foaled February 16. €25,000 yearling, €35,000 2-y-o, Ghaiyyath colt. Dam 7f-11.5f winner. Well backed and displayed plenty of ability when second of 3 starting out at Newcastle 2 weeks ago. Form of that steadily-run novice yet to be tested but improvement is expected.
Brushstroke
Promising start to his career when length second of 11 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, all-weather) in August. Wasn't in quite the same form despite achieving same result at Ascot, where he looked unsuited by drop to 6f.
Everatease
Winner of 6f sellers at Chester and York at the start of the summer, with the form of the latter franked on several occasions since. Upped his game when second of 5 in a nursery at Windsor and much better than bare facts of seventh-place finish behind stablemate at Newmarket. The one to beat.
God Of Titans (IRE)
Got cheaper each time he went through the sales ring and having looked very limited on his first 2 starts, improved from nowhere to finish second at Southwell on first try at 7f 3 weeks ago. This looks a tall order.
