Timeform View

Having quickly bounced back to form when landing a small-field conditions event at Beverley 17 days ago, TOCA MADERA remains on the mark he's been competitive from in top-end handicaps this summer and may well be up to defying top weight eased in class. Hallo Spaceboy will find this easier than recent assignments and is feared, as is Baldomero back at 5f from a career-low mark. Copper Knight also deserves an honourable mention with no less than 7 C&D victories to his name.

Timeform Comments

Toca Madera (IRE)
Ended losing run at Doncaster (5f) in June and shaped with plenty of promise in top-end handicaps here/Goodwood subsequently. Not at best in the Portland at Doncaster but quickly back on track when landing 6-runner conditions event at Beverley (5f) 17 days ago. Solid claims back in a handicap.
Tatterstall (IRE)
Prominent racer who has been lightly raced in recent seasons and capitalised on the drop in grade equipped with first-time cheekpieces when recording first win for 2 years at Lingfield (5f) 4 weeks ago. Arrives pretty fresh for this time of year and respected back on turf from 5 lb higher.
Against The Wind
Successful twice in 5f handicaps last season and returned with a good third at Southwell in March. Not threatened in 4 turf starts since but did fare better than of late when 6 lengths ninth of 21 in the Portland at Doncaster (5.6f) last month. Has looked more reliable on all-weather.
Novamay
Confirmed herself better than ever when doubling this season's tally at Catterick (5f) in August. Found herself in the firing line from an early stage when down the field in a strongly run listed race at Ayr since but her new mark does demand more now in any case back in a handicap.
Hallo Spaceboy
Son of Starman who confirmed the promise of his second in a red-hot Ascot handicap when justifying cramped odds over 6f here in June. Not disgraced at listed level next time and he'll find this much more suitable than his Group 3 assignment 3 weeks ago. Better anticipated.
Schrodinger's Cat
Won at Redcar (5f) before fine second behind an upwardly mobile filly over C&D in June. Solid efforts next 3 starts but possibly gone off the boil judged on recent performances at Doncaster/Ripon.
Eternal Sunshine
Had a highly productive 2025, including success in the Portland at Doncaster (5.6f). Opened account for the season at Hamilton (5f) in August and best not judged too harshly on her latest Ascot run having been well away from where the action developed. Each-way possibilities.
Exclamation (IRE)
Inconsistent performer who was seen to good effect from the front when successful at Chester (5f) in May. More miss than hit since, below best at Beverley and never able to land a blow having been tight for room early back at Chester 4 weeks ago. Others preferred despite sliding mark.
Fortification
Landed a big-field C&D handicap on stable debut at the Dante meeting prior to finishing placed in pair of similarly competitive course handicaps next 2 starts. Some way below that level on 3 of his 4 starts since, though, latterly when eleventh of 16 at Doncaster 4 weeks ago. Cheekpieces back on now
Fidelius
All 6 career victories for Robert Cowell gained on all-weather but went mightily close to breaking his duck on turf when second on stable debut at Redcar (5f) in August. Hasn't scaled same heights in 2 starts since and others look more solid. Tongue strap back on.
Kodiac Thriller (IRE)
Twice a winner this year, latterly from 1 lb lower mark over C&D in July. Produced a rare below-par effort at Ripon when ninth in Great St Wilfrid next time, though, and fared no better at Chester/Pontefract last month.
Boston Dan (IRE)
Finally took advantage of a tumbling mark in a first-time tongue tie at Haydock (5f, heavy) 3 starts back. Looked stretched by return to 6f in Ayr Bronze Cup next time and best to draw a line through his latest run at Haydock given where he raced. Assessor is steadily easing his grip again.
Stargazed
A fair 5f winner at 2 yrs who resumed with a very good second behind Fortification over C&D in May. Below that form since though, never a threat when fifth of 10 in handicap at Haydock (5f, soft) 13 days ago. Eases in class now but slow starts remain a concern.
Equity Law
Recorded back-to-back 5f wins at Pontefract/Thirsk and stepped up on his penultimate Doncaster eighth when fifth of 14 in handicap at Ripon (5f) 2 weeks ago, every chance before fading last ½f. Handicapper looks to have him about right at present.
Baldomero (IRE)
Four-time winner on turf/all-weather in 2025. Yet to get his head in front this season but performed with credit when sixth in Sky Bet Dash over 6f here in July. Not at very best of late but finds himself operating from career-low mark and foolish to rule out a good showing back at 5f.
Go Vince Go (IRE)
A 3-time winner at 2 yrs (including over C&D) who has made the frame on several occasions this season. Easy to excuse latest Pontefract effort (posted wide throughout from outside stall) but drop back to the minimum trip may not suit ideally given how he's shaped in recent starts.
Parisiac (IRE)
Front runner who's thrived on a busy spell of late, forcing an unexposed one to pull out all the stops when ½-length second at Ayr last time. This looks a tougher assignment but can't be ruled out in present groove. Engaged 3.30 Ayr Thursday.
Copper Knight (IRE)
Remarkable veteran with 7 C&D victories to his name and exploited a career-low mark (well backed) when enhancing his similarly excellent Chester record in September. Never figured at Hamilton later last month but type to give another good account back here in race named in his honour.
