Timeform View

GRANLAHAN has been a model of consistency lately and is taken to gain a deserved first success from a still-workable mark. Jurality should be suited by the drop back in trip and rates the main threat if reproducing last month’s Navan effort, while Hesasmoothoperator and Chesterbaylad can also be involved at their best.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Granlahan traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts: Pahlavi traded at 10% or less of Betfair SP and 50% or less of Betfair SP on 2 of its last 5 starts.

Timeform Comments

Certamen (IRE)
Showed modest form in maiden hurdles and hasn't kicked on in handicaps on last 2 starts and likely needs further respite before becoming of interest.
Jurality
Off the mark on the Flat this summer and went close in 19f handicap at Navan in September, just edged out by Mother Ship late on. Failed to back that performance up over longer trip at Roscommon last time and should be suited by the return to 2m at a galloping track.
Liceo (FR)
Stepped up on reappearance when third of 15 in 2m handicap at Tramore in May. Shaped as if back in form when 5 lengths fifth of 13 to Convincing at Kilbeggan in August but looks summed up by current mark.
Champagne Dawn (IRE)
Failed to see his races out in handicaps last season but ran better than for a while when 5¼ lengths fifth of 12 to Dairy Force at Clonmel last time. Needs to build on that now.
Fairy Meadow (IRE)
Showed more than on previous 2 starts when third of 9 in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in August. Can have a line put through last run after being badly hammered early and now switched to handicaps on debut for new yard.
Undertheinfluence (IRE)
Showed more ability than the bare results suggest in 4 maiden hurdles and looks open to improvement now handicapping, though his opening mark is no obvious gift. Worth a market check.
Wee Fallon (IRE)
Showed first form on second start for current connections when 15½ lengths fourth of 8 to Teddy Jones in maiden hurdle at Down Royal last time. Wears first-time tongue strap and makes handicap debut.
Hesasmoothoperator (IRE)
Modest maiden hurdler who finished in the frame in a trio of 2½m handicaps last season. Well beaten on both starts over fences this term. Reverts to hurdling on debut for new yard.
Pahlavi (IRE)
Down in the weights and best effort for some time when seeing off a well-backed rival at Downpatrick on Friday. 7 lb penalty to carry turned out quickly.
Scary Askari
Low-mileage 6-y-o. Left previous efforts behind at Downpatrick (2¾m) on final start for Sean McParlan, finishing 16 lengths third. Made no impact on debut for this yard last time.
Ancient Myth (IRE)
Standout effort over hurdles when beaten 6 lengths at Ballinrobe (2¾m) in first-time blinkers in August. Back down in trip now but unlikely to be of much interest unless the market speaks notably in his favour.
Granlahan (IRE)
Remains a maiden but has been proving consistent, finding only one too good on 4 of his last 5 starts, beaten a short-head to Footstepstoglory in 16-runner handicap at Killarney on latest. Sure to give another good account of himself.
Zaryagle (IRE)
Showed nothing back from 10 months off in Wexford handicap hurdle in August. Wears first-time cheekpieces.
Crypto Crash
Recorded a first success under both codes when winning 15-runner handicap hurdle at Bellewstown (17f) in August by 2¾ lengths from Lunar Landscape. Refused to race last time, though, and best treated with caution as a result.
Chesterbaylad (IRE)
Improved to win 16-runner handicap hurdle at Cork (17f, good to soft, 6/1) in August by 3¾ lengths from Surviving Murmansk. Never better than mid-field off 6 lb higher last time but claims if bouncing back.
Vairue (IRE)
Veteran who looks to retain little ability, finishing ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle (12/1) at Tramore (17f, good) 55 days ago.
