Timeform View

DUMFRIES has been shaping up well for a while now and this could be the day where he puts it all together. Green Icon has never really been one for maximum faith but he got the job done last time and remains well treated, while veteran Al Suil Eile also merits a second look.

Timeform Comments

Borderline Madness
Stepped up on her reappearance run when winning over C&D in April. Not at that level in 3 subsequent starts, though she did have to wait for a gap at Lingfield latest (fitted with cheekpieces) and she now finds herself back on that successful mark.
Potters Prince
Low-mileage 4-y-o who ran right up to his best when second of 13 over C&D 2 weeks ago. Travelled with plenty of purpose on that occasion and with this a slight drop in class, he has to be of interest.
El Fox
Yet to win race but more consistent than most at this sort of level. Again a shade too free at Yarmouth in May and off since.
Little Ted
Has benefited from the fitting of a hood, runner-up twice before getting back to winning ways in apprentice event at Hamilton last month. Disappointing return to all-weather at Newcastle needs casting aside, however.
Green Icon (FR)
Unreliable type in Ireland for Denis Hogan. Refitted with cheekpieces when a good third of 7 for new yard at Ffos Las in August and he built on that when winning at Bath 4 weeks ago. Retains plenty of scope on old form back on all-weather if he has turned a corner.
Cy Twombly (IRE)
Yet to register a victory but has tumbled in the weights and went with more purpose when third of 8 over 8.5f at Wolverhampton 11 days ago. Definite claims if building on that.
Dumfries
Below last winning mark and shaping as though ready to cash in of late, finishing with a flourish held up in a steadily-run race when second at Wolverhampton 11 days ago. Has lots in his favour.
Ocean Force (IRE)
Lightly-raced 5-y-o who was strong in the market but not seen to best effect when sixth on handicap debut at Lingfield (1m, all-weather) in August, keeping on late having been short of room. Again didn't have things go his way over C&D 16 days ago and he remains of interest in change of equipment.
Beaming Light
Rattled up a hat-trick last summer but unable to add to tally since despite being kept busy. Shaped better than result over 7f here in August and return to 1m should help, if anything.
Mercurius Power (IRE)
It's now over 2 years since he scored over C&D but he arrives in decent nick, doing all he could from a wide draw when fourth over C&D 16 days ago (also denied a clear run).
Al Suil Eile (FR)
Veteran is a 4-time C&D winner for Shaun Harris. Down to a handy mark for this yard and caught the eye with his finishing effort in re-fitted cheekpieces when fifth over C&D 16 days ago. Danger to all if building on that.
Lightning Galaxy (IRE)
Remains winless but down to a very modest mark and latest fourth at Beverley confirms he's competitive. Down in trip for second all-weather start.
Blue Collar Lad
Back from 5 months off with a good second over 7f at Lingfield in March. Raced just 3 times since but needed to see more at Lingfield latest to seriously consider him. Cheekpieces back on.
Volenti (IRE)
Four-time C&D winner for Ben Haslam but hasn't won in 24 starts. That said, he's made a fair start to life with his new stable.
