Timeform View

Low-mileage 3-y-o WEFFAAG didn't need to improve when opening his account in a 6-runner maiden at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and with the third that day having advertised the form since, William Haggas's colt looks potentially well treated from an opening mark of 79 now handicapping. Frankies Dream needs things to drop right but he lurks on a handy mark so is feared. Last-time-out winners Canvas and Nyman are others to consider, with Metallo another to note.

Timeform Comments

Hale End (IRE)
Doubled his tally for the season at Ayr (1m, firm) in July and made the frame next 2 starts, latterly when second at Southwell (1m) in September. Never dangerous seventh at Pontefract on most recent outing and the assessor looks to have him about right.
Jez Bomb
Consistent sort on the whole who gained a second success of 2026 over a longer trip at Pontefract in July. However, the handicapper has looked in control in trio of starts since. Returns to a shorter trip now.
Canvas
C&D winner who had been shaping as if building up to something and confirmed as much when registering a first success in over a year at Wolverhampton (9.5f) on Monday, drawing clear final 1f. Back up in grade now but he's evidently better than ever since cheekpieces went on. Claims under a penalty.
Frankies Dream (IRE)
Course winner who shaped well on more than one occasion here earlier this season and he posted his best effort for a while from sliding mark when second at Newcastle (7f) 2 weeks ago, looking unlucky not to prevail having encountered traffic problems. Big player provided things drop right.
Financer
Ended a lengthy losing run at Redcar in July and showed he's equally effective in the mud when going in again at Beverley (8.5f) in August. Found class 2 company a bridge too far at Ayr (1¼m, soft) since but no forlorn hope back down in grade in a switch of headgear.
Nyman (IRE)
Came good for this yard last autumn and it's been a similar story this time around, cashing in on career-low mark at Thirsk in September. Respectable fifth at Doncaster next time and back to very best when landing valuable series final at Redcar (1m) 7 days ago. Possibilities up 5 lb.
Capital Guarantee (IRE)
Returned to winning ways at Thirsk (1m) in July. Not proving easy to catch right since, failing to build on the promise of his penultimate start when last of 10 at Pontefract (1m) 23 days ago.
Grey Soul (IRE)
Resumed progress with cheekpieces enlisted, landing back-to-back 1m handicaps at Ffos Las in June. Took his first backward step since joining present yard when sixth at Kempton (1m) in August and present mark looks to demand that bit more back on turf.
Dwindling Funds
Likeable type who won 6 times during a remarkable 2025. Added to tally in 15-runner event over C&D in July and whilst things have been tougher since, he'll find this much less demanding than his assignment (from out of the weights) in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket 2 weeks ago.
Sailthisshipalone
Successful at Pontefract on reappearance/stable debut in April and following a mid-season break, he was well served by return to soft ground when successful at Ayr (1m) 23 days ago. 3 lb nudge in the weights shouldn't prevent another good showing with forecast conditions in his favour.
Mr King (IRE)
Back to form out of the blue to take advantage of a reduced mark at Thirsk (7f, good) in June. Has run creditably in defeat on all 3 starts since, making his effort earlier than ideal when third at Beverley (7.4f) 18 days ago. Each-way claims again for all this is a deeper affair.
Freddie Steady Go
Debut bumper winner. Got off the mark in this sphere (at 150-1) in 7f novice at Carlisle in May and has backed it up with solid efforts in handicaps since, settling better when fourth at Pontefract (1m) 23 days ago. Feasible to think he'll come on a little for that run now, too.
Metallo (IRE)
Salisbury novice winner (7f) as a juvenile. Yet to add to his tally but hailing from a stable in form he ran his best race for a while when second at Kempton (1m) in August, going down to an improver but nicely on top of remainder. Not dismissed back on turf.
Weffaag
Expensive son of Havana Grey who didn't need to improve on the back of a breathing operation when landing cramped odds in 6-runner novice at Newcastle (7f) 3 weeks ago. Third that day has boosted the form since and an opening mark of 79 could well underestimate him. Very interesting.
Callianassa (IRE)
Four-time all-weather winner who has yet to win on turf but posted easily one of this season's better efforts in line with marked drop in grade when third at Musselburgh (9f) 4 weeks ago. On a workable mark if she can repeat that here.
Sunriseontheboyne (IRE)
Back in fine form of late and bids for a hat-trick following gutsy wins at Newcastle (1m) and in 10-runner Musselburgh handicap (9f) last month. Has more to do on these terms but not dismissed.
Tele Red
C&D winner who was in fine form in the mud last autumn, scoring at Pontefract 12 months ago. Made an encouraging return when fourth of 11 at Beverley (8.5f, heavy) in August but not in same form when down the field at Chester 4 weeks ago. Others preferred.
Ganodin (FR)
Fairly useful performer in France for H-A. Pantall, winning 2 of his last 3 starts, namely 9f minor event at Pau in May and a 9f 3-y-o handicap at Dieppe in June. Sold for €40,000 following month (has been gelded) but offered very little at Chester last month.
Aqua Bear (IRE)
Won 7f maiden at Newcastle on first start for present stable in November. Shaped well when third in handicap at Carlisle (1m) in June but not in the same form last 2 outings. Return to a softer surface may see him in a better light, though, and the assessor is easing his grip.
Miss Lady Grace (IRE)
Justified support with a much-improved effort at Goodwood (7f) under this rider in June and followed up with the minimum of fuss at Chester a week later. Not in same form from career-high mark/following 3 months off at Southwell in September but she remains relatively lightly raced.
