SUDDEN FLIGHT wasn't disgraced when fifth at Chester over 5f last time and should benefit from the return to 6f, having been placed on 3 consecutive occasions at this trip earlier in the summer, including at this track. Several others have questions to answer but Bone Marra ran well in a similarly competitive sprint handicap last time so merits respect, while Deep Havana is lightly raced and retains some potential at this level.

Timeform Comments

Crestofdistinction
Second in a listed race at York last September but struggled this year and finished only 11th of 13 in a handicap at Doncaster 28 days ago. Perhaps needed that outing after 4 months off and being gelded and has now been dropped 5 lb but comes with risks attached (usual cheekpieces discarded).
The Strikin Viking (IRE)
Has been more miss than hit so far this year, but seventh of 21 in a handicap at Doncaster 29 days ago was a bit more encouraging and Tom Marquand taking over in the saddle means he needs a second glance.
Caburn (IRE)
Yet to win this year but came fourth of 7 in listed race at Newmarket in August before tailed off 16th of 24 at Ayr 22 days ago, looking unsuited by heavy ground. First-time visor now replaces usual cheekpieces and less extreme ground should help.
Deep Havana
Gelded before winning at Thirsk (beat subsequent winner) in August on return from 17 months off and is best excused recent flop on heavy going. Lightly raced and merits respect.
Midnight Thunder
Off 19 months prior to August reappearance and produced an excellent second of 9 at Thirsk in September which gives him a chance here. Subsequently stopped as if something was amiss at Yarmouth though so now has well-being to prove.
Collecting Coin
Won over 7.5f on yard debut at Chester in July and produced good efforts in defeat both starts subsequently. His stable continues to go very well and he looks sure to be in the mix if proving as well suited by this first try at 6f.
Jungle Drums (IRE)
Inconsistent sort whose last couple of wins have come on all-weather but he was a good 4th of 10 over C&D in August so holds place claims on that effort. Not so good on heavy going at Ayr last month, though.
Sudden Flight
Ran well when second 3 times in a row in June and July, including once over C&D. Also ran creditably here when fifth of 10 42 days ago and was by no means disgraced dropped to 5f at Chester last time. Return to 6f will suit here and he should go well with claimer taking over.
Bone Marra (IRE)
All 3 wins on all-weather, the latest at Southwell in June. Also ran well on turf (soft ground) when third of 24 in the Ayr Bronze Cup last month and now has the benefit of Billy Loughnane taking over in the saddle so should play a part.
Brosay
Runner-up twice over C&D in September but only sixth of 14 at Salisbury 10 days ago. Needs noting that he's 7 lb below last winning mark which came around this time last year so he's got to be considered returned to this venue.
Dream Composer (FR)
Twice a winner over 5f since joining this yard and, though his last couple of efforts haven't been good, he's got a C&D win in the past to his name so isn't without hope.
Justcallmepete
Won over 6f at Windsor in May but largely run poorly since. Has now dropped below last winning mark, though, and this race looks more realistic than the strong handicap he contested at Doncaster over slightly further last month.
Percy's Star
Won over C&D in a handicap (beating Brosay by ½ length) 18 days ago. 4 lb higher here and hiked in grade but less-exposed than most of these and the fact he's proven at the track counts for plenty.
From The Hip
Second of 10 in a handicap at Kempton on all-weather 6 days ago, taking time to knuckle down but resuming his progress. Lightly raced on turf and already has a win to his name but this is a better race than he need contest.
