Timeform View

ALEX BELARDO can have a line put through his Down Royal effort 14 days ago where he endured a nightmare passage and looks worth chancing now back on his last winning mark and returned to this level. Ella's Gold was caught a bit too far back last time, but ran well at Navan in August and could prove the main danger if reverting to more positive tactics here. Buttermere Ridge kept on when third at Listowel and has a chance if in the same form.

Timeform Comments

Goldrush Kid (IRE)
Doubled his tally after a 5-month absence in 10-runner claimer at Laytown (6f) in September on his final run for Patrick Magee. Made no impact reverting to turf and handicap company on debut for current connections last time.
The Bear Trap (IRE)
Finally off the mark at Dundalk (7f) in December 2024 for John Geoghegan. Off 17 months, not disgraced for new yard with fourth of 14 to Mickey The Steel in handicap back at Dundalk in September but refused to settle and went backwards from that return back on turf 12 days later.
Alex Belardo (IRE)
Resumed winning ways in Down Royal handicap in June. Not so good next 2 runs but had a nightmare passage back at same track last time and reverts to 0-60 company off last successful mark. One to be interested in.
Buttermere Ridge (IRE)
Without a win since debut but made the frame in a Bellewstown claimer in July and when 4¼ lengths third of 15 to Majestic King in handicap at Listowel last time. Drops into 0-60 company for the first time and capable of being involved if running to form.
Ella's Gold (IRE)
Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Navan (1m, good) in August. Better effort since when 4¼ lengths eighth of 14 to Mare Crisium in similar event at Clonmel last time, never nearer after being ridden more patiently than usual. First-time blinkers replace cheekpieces back down in trip.
Little Wing (IRE)
No impact in a trio of maidens and a pair of handicaps.
Watercraft (IRE)
Didn't show much in 3 starts for Richard Hannon (sold for 11,000 gns) and similar story on debut for new yard at Gowran 23 days ago.
Blue Orquidea (IRE)
Showed modest form twice from 3 starts in maidens but was friendless in the betting on handicap bow at Navan last month and ran accordingly, finishing last of 16. Dropped 5 lb and wears first-time tongue strap but needs to improve.
Monocle Rocket (IRE)
Much improved for switch to handicap/positive tactics when second at Gowran (7f) on return/stable debut in April. Not seen to best effect on either start since and won't be inconvenienced by the drop back in trip, though quick turnaround is a concern.
Zarenakarena (IRE)
Hasn't made much impact in a trio of maidens and marked improvement needed now handicapping, though booking of Colin Keane catches the eye and well worth a look in the betting as a result.
Tamazu (IRE)
On a long losing sequence but one of his better efforts when fifth of 14 in handicap at Roscommon (7f, good to soft) on return in August. Typically failed to back that up at Listowel last time, though.
Dark Willow (IRE)
Poor maiden handicapper whose sole in-frame finish came over this C&D last spring. Difficult to fancy.
Sunday Sovereign
Veteran on a long losing run and his fourth here in August is very much a standout this season.
Kayamite (IRE)
Frustrating filly who hasn't made much impact in a trio of outings this year. Cheekpieces removed.
Master Garvey (IRE)
Infrequent winner who has been operating below his best on all-weather/turf in recent starts. Others more persuasive.
