Timeform View

BALLAGHKEEN is less exposed than most she meets here and can defy a penalty to follow up last week's Navan win. Royal Belief, Deluca Chop and Autocrat are also shortlisted in a decent race for the grade.

Timeform Comments

Ballaghkeen (IRE)
Caught the eye on last month's return and produced a much improved effort to get off the mark in a 16-runner handicap (14/1) at Navan (1¼m, good to soft) 5 days ago. Looks the one to beat under a penalty.
Royal Belief (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden in this sphere but was much improved over hurdles when winning 12-runner event at Limerick (2m, soft, 6/1) in March prior to good second back on the Flat at Gowran (13.7f, soft) the following month. Respected after 173 days off.
Acanto (IRE)
Little impact in a trio of maidens but with blinkers applied showed improved form when third of 12 on handicap debut at Down Royal (13f) last month and backed that up with another creditable 3 lengths fourth of 11 to Autocrat at Bellewstown (12.4f, soft) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces now on.
Among The Pines (IRE)
No better than mid-field in 4 starts for M. C. Grassick last year but has stepped forward for each run for current yard, most recently when 1¾ lengths second of 11 to Autocrat in handicap at Bellewstown (12.4f, soft) 11 days ago.
Anightaway (IRE)
Attracted some support upped in trip and showed first form after a 4-month break when winning at Sligo in early-August. Quickly back on track in first-time cheekpieces when second of 11 in handicap (11/2) at Bellewstown (12.4f, soft) 11 days ago, albeit finding less than looked likely.
Deluca Chop (FR)
Secured back-to-back successes at Navan/Down Royal in June and has remained in good form since, again running well when second of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (1½m) 17 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Looks competitive on form.
Vervain (IRE)
Produced best effort to date when second in a better race at Gowran in August and shaped as if still in form on her next 2 starts. Below par when ninth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (1½m) 17 days ago. Tongue strap back on.
Zesty Belle (IRE)
Ran to only a modest level in maidens and hasn't improved in 2 handicap outings so far. Cheekpieces go on now.
Burlington House (FR)
Shaped as if back in form prior to falling in a handicap hurdle at Downpatrick (2¼m, good to soft) 24 days ago but has raced on the level only once since 2024, so hard to know what to expect in this sphere.
Queen Of Astolat (IRE)
Maiden handicapper who ran creditably when third of 14 in handicap (25/1) at Thurles (12.7f, good to soft) 4 days ago. Tongue strap goes on and place claims again.
Autocrat (IRE)
Six-time winner at Dundalk who scored for the first time on turf in an 11-runner handicap at Bellewstown (12.4f, soft) 11 days ago by 1¾ lengths from Among The Pines. Still well treated on old form after 6 lb rise.
Inver Bay (IRE)
Much improved when winning a 16-runner handicap hurdle (50/1) at this course (2m, good to soft) 14 days ago, readily. Little show in this sphere to date but that makes her very interesting making her Flat handicap debut from basement mark.
James Henry (IRE)
Unreliable sort. Eighteen runs since last win in 2024. Eleventh of 15 in handicap at Listowel (7f, good to soft, 13/2) 20 days ago. Significantly up in trip and tricky to fancy.
Thegooseiscooked (IRE)
One win from 25 Flat runs. Made the frame for the second start in a row when fourth of 14 in handicap at Down Royal (11f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on.
Duleek Street (IRE)
Fair winner over hurdles but lightly raced in recent seasons, well below his best in 2 handicaps on the Flat in 2025. Creditable sixth of 15 in handicap hurdle at last year's Galway Festival, though has been absent 14 months since. Tongue strap refitted.
Piatra Neamt (IRE)
No better than mid-field in varied events, merely passing beaten rivals when fifth of 7 in handicap at Clonmel (17f, good, 12/1) 26 days ago.
Rio Doce (IRE)
No impact on Flat or over hurdles, offering nothing on return from 18 months off at Gowran last time. Goes up in trip sporting first-time cheekpieces after another 122 days off. RESERVE.
Walls Cross (IRE)
Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, fifteenth of 16 in handicap at Naas (11f, good to firm) 50 days ago. Much more needed here. RESERVE.
Calamint (IRE)
Placed twice on the level in the spring but not quite in the same form over hurdles or in a Navan handicap on the Flat this autumn. RESERVE.
