PACE ATTACK is taken to bounce back returned to all-weather with the drop back in trip another likely plus for Sir Mark Prescott's 3-y-o. Astracornus and Madjid appeal as the main dangers in quite an open race.

Timeform Comments

Yokohama (IRE)
Gained a first win since his debut in 1½m handicap at Newbury in May. Ran well when third at Haydock last month, proving effective in testing conditions. Can give another good account.
Newtown Duke (IRE)
Low-mileage 5-y-o got off the mark at Newcastle (1m) last November. Ran just 3 times this season, making the frame on each occasion, latest when fourth of 17 at Doncaster last month. Each-way claims.
Arthur's Realm (IRE)
Sixteen runs since last win in 2024. Hasn't run too badly in 3 starts for current yard this season, his mark continuing to fall as a result. Is very well handicapped at present, though needs to show a bit more before becoming of interest for betting purposes.
Lavender Gold (FR)
Steadily progressive last year and justified strong support on his second start of the year with a win at Goodwood in June. Well held both starts since after racing freely and betting may provide clues.
Hamdania (IRE)
Won over 7f at Wolverhampton on debut in December and was runner-up at Lingfield on first start since last month. Looked set to go close on handicap bow at Southwell next time before veering badly late on and may need more time/addition of headgear. Engaged 5.17 Goodwood Sunday.
Astracornus
Successful on handicap debut at Nottingham prior to being narrowly denied at Newbury (both solid form). Creditable 3¼-length fourth of 13 at Goodwood latest, a more marked tendency to hang right possibly more to do with the track. Is unexposed and looks stable first string.
Madjid
Improved when made all in back-to-back handicaps at Newmarket and Kempton in the summer. Turned over at short prices on last 2 starts and may prove vulnerable for win purposes again but should be thereabouts.
Pure Moon
Lightly-raced maiden. Filled the same position as on debut when runner-up on his return at Southwell in April, though he'd surely have won had he not hung badly right. Off 4 months and failed to beat a rival in handicap at Wolverhampton in August. Visor goes on but looks on a stiff mark.
Calchas
Lightly-raced maiden. Placed on last 3 of 4 starts in juvenile season last year. Blinkers are discarded on return after 13 months off and significantly up in trip which should suit on pedigree.
Pace Attack (IRE)
Made typical progress switched to handicaps/longer trips, getting off the mark at Southwell in late-August and backed that up when third at Lingfield the following month. Didn't appeal to relish the longer trip at Redcar last time and has every chance of bouncing back here.
Willow Wood (IRE)
Proved a different proposition upped further in trip when scoring comfortably at Ffos Las (1½m) in June. Has failed to back that up since, being let down by her free-going tendencies. Others more persuasive.
Pershalla
Got off the mark at Kempton in April and added to that with success at Windsor in August. Wasn't in the same form when third of 5 at former course last month. May find a few too strong.
