Preference is for SON OF HYPNOS, who bolted up under an attacking ride at Newton Abbot in August and Ryan Chapman's 9-y-o did a bit too much too soon attempting to replicate those tactics back there last month. The quirky Donnie Azoff won on this card 12 months ago and he can provide most resistance, with Krak also considered having his first start over hurdles for Dan Skelton.

Timeform Comments

Krak (FR)
Winning hurdler in Ireland who is getting the hang of things over fences from an easing mark, finishing runner-up for the second start in a row at in 4-runner event at Bangor (17f, good) 5 weeks ago. Respected hurdling for the first time for Dan Skelton.
Donnie Azoff (IRE)
Veteran who has his quirks, but he's clearly been in fine heart since returning. Didn't jump well enough to be able to overhaul his one rival at Newton Abbot (2¼m, good to firm) in late-August but worth considering here. Won on this card last year.
Sixty Plus (IRE)
Enjoyed a fine summer jumping campaign last year, winning 4 handicaps on the bounce at up to 2½m. Has also had a fruitful time on the Flat this summer, completing a quick-fire hat-trick at Nottingham (1¾m, good) in late-July. Creditable fifth at Yarmouth last month and now reverts to hurdles.
Jaramillo
Gone backwards following a positive start over fences last spring, but did run much better than on his reappearance back hurdling when third of 8 at Stratford (2¾m, good to firm) last month. Cheekpieces reapplied but not sure to be in the same mood here.
Whinney Hill
Bumper winner who made a promising hurdling debut back in late-2024 for Gordon Elliott but went the wrong way. Proved some ability remains when fifth at Worcester in August but failed badly to build on that minor promise back there the following month. Hood reapplied.
Son Of Hypnos (IRE)
Versatile performer in Ireland. Decisively capitalised on falling mark to open his account for current yard under an attacking ride at Newton Abbot (2¼m) in August but did too much too soon when sixth of 11 back there (17f, good) the following month. In the mix
Department Of War (IRE)
Hasn't shown form for some time and returns for another new yard after over 2 years off the track. Can only be watched.
Devon Red
Was well supported returned to calmer waters but failed to live up to expectations when fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (2¼m, good to soft) 10 days ago. Cheekpieces reapplied and not without each-way hope.
