Timeform View

NEW YEAR'S EVE has an appealing pedigree and will have learnt plenty from last month's Haydock debut. She is taken to get off the mark. Comrade Alexi looks the chief threat on form, whilst newcomers Velora and Lady Phillips are both much respected.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Beryozka could be expected to race prominently. Of those in the front half of the betting forecast, Lady Phillips might be well positioned in a slowly run affair: Of the better-fancied horses, Velora is most likely to be ridden furthest from the pace.

Timeform Comments

Beryozka
Made appeal on paper and shaped quite well when fourth of 9 in novice at Kempton (1m, 5/1) on debut 20 days ago. Likely to improve.
Catonahottinroof (IRE)
Bred for stiffer tests and finished well held in novice at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) on debut 24 days ago. One for longer term.
Comrade Alexi (IRE)
Promising type who posted fair seventh of 10 in maiden at Ascot (1m, good, 18/1) on debut 39 days ago. Entitled to build on that.
Lady Phillips
Foaled March 25. Night of Thunder filly. Half-sister to useful 1¼m winner Venetia and 1¾m winner Word of Mouth. Dam winner up to 14.4f (2-y-o 8.3f winner). One to note on debut.
New Year's Eve
Held back by inexperience when fifth of 10 in novice at Haydock (7f, soft, 10/3) on debut 18 days ago. In good hands, however, and may well do better.
Singing Blues (IRE)
Went backwards from debut when well beaten in Goodwood maiden (1m) in August. Tried in headgear now but is likely best watched.
Velora (IRE)
Foaled April 4. €395,000 yearling, Sea The Stars filly. Half-sister to several winners, including Prix de Diane winner Channel and French 9f winner Chennamma. Must be of interest on debut.
