Timeform View

GUNFIGHTER notched his fourth all-weather success over C&D last month and with his subsequent third easy to put a line through, John Butler's 5-y-o remains firmly of interest. He gets the nod over Port Road, who found only a couple of well-treated rivals too strong here last month and now drops in class. Of the rest, the returning Hitched could have a say from this sort of mark provided he's ready to roll.

Timeform Cash Out Hints

Gunfighter traded at a low of 2.14 and Betfair SP of 2.24 when losing last time, a race in which it raced in mid-field.

Timeform Comments

Port Road (USA)
3-time all-weather winner (including over C&D) who took a step back in the right direction when third of 13 at this course (7f) just under 6 weeks ago, just unable to go with the well-treated first 2. Down in grade so considered having dipped below his last winning mark.
Hitched (IRE)
Hold-up performer who scored at Wolverhampton in January. Below that level since, having every chance but failing to pick up as well as it looked he might when sixth of 9 at Yarmouth (1m, good to firm) when last seen in mid-June. Will probably need this outing.
Crystal Pier (IRE)
Returned to win Wolverhampton handicap in May. Bettered that when close second over 1m at Windsor (good to firm) 12 days later but well beaten all 3 subsequent starts. This just her second all-weather outing but she's got plenty to prove returned to 1m.
Gunfighter (IRE)
All 4 wins on all-weather, and he resumed winning ways in 13-runner event over C&D last month given he conceded first run. Easy to put a line through his follow-up effort (things didn't open up ideally in modestly-run affair) over C&D 5 days ago and he remains of interest.
Warning Symbol (IRE)
Well backed to make a winning handicap debut over C&D in February, value extra having been up with the strong pace throughout. Things haven't gone to plan since, shaping like a non-stayer at Yarmouth (1¼m, good) 9 days ago. Cheekpieces reapplied for his return to 1m.
Magnatura (IRE)
Won twice over 7f as a juvenile. Good reappearance when hitting the frame in a 1m Newbury handicap but hasn't kicked on from it over mainly longer trips since. Found the test inadequate at Leicester (1m) last month and hopes pinned on another change of headgear (first-time cheekpieces).
Knowledge
Pulled clear with a useful sort when making a winning start in Southwell novice in January but struggled on the turf after. Shaped with a bit more promise at Wolverhampton last month but proved too free at Windsor (1m, good) since. First-time hood now tried.
Be Frank
Scored on 2025 return at Newmarket and turned in several creditable efforts after. However, he's yet to fire in 4 turf outings this season so percentage call is to look elsewhere despite a tumbling mark.
Nezeeh (IRE)
Lost his way for Denis Hogan in Ireland and no show all 4 starts for current yard minus headgear. Markedly back up in trip.
Afta Party (IRE)
Back from an absence to finish well held at Salisbury in August 2025 and could hardly have shown any less on first outing since leaving Mark Gillard after 13 months off at Bath recently. Headgear discarded.
