Timeform View

Course winner MARENGO STORM had excuses on account of the underfoot conditions at Goodwood 5 weeks ago and, boasting a positive profile prior to that, he's well worth another chance from a handy draw back on all-weather. Rage of Thunder, Philanthropist and Blue Prince are a trio of others to consider in a solid handicap for the grade.

Timeform Comments

Blue Prince (IRE)
Registered a second victory of the campaign in claiming company at Chester (7.6f) in August and recent exploits suggest he's firmly at the top of his game, meeting with trouble at a crucial point when second in handicap back there (7f) 25 days ago. Can go well again following 1 lb rise.
Rogue Messiah (IRE)
Doubled his tally when landing 6f handicap at Lingfield in April for Jack Jones and stepped up markedly on first 2 runs for new yard when second in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago, that despite not travelling too kindly. Still, he holds claims again despite a less-than-ideal draw.
Philanthropist
Resumed winning ways at Yarmouth (7f) in April and following a good second over C&D in August, he shaped as if still in good form without being seen to best effect when third at Sandown (7f) 33 days ago. Stable continue in good nick and he remains on a handy mark.
Do Bronxs (IRE)
Winless since his debut but in good heart this season, albeit doing plenty on the front end and ultimately tiring final 1f when fourth at Epsom (7f) 44 days ago. Eased 1 lb ahead of this but forcing tactics won't be easy to pull off from stall 11.
Dr Strangelove
Mohaather gelding who won twice over 6f in useful juvenile season. Hasn't gone on from a near miss at Goodwood (7f) earlier this year, combination of cheekpieces/step up in trip failing to bring about improvement at Epsom (8.5f) 17 days ago. Others appeal more.
Marengo Storm
Course winner who confirmed handicap debut promise when landing small-field contest at Newmarket (7f) in June. Good fifth in first-time cheekpieces at Goodwood next time and had excuses on account of the heavy ground back at that venue 5 weeks ago. Very much the type to bounce back.
Waistcoat
Boasts 3 wins to his name for present stable, the latest from 5 lb lower mark over 6f at Newbury in July. Shaped as if still in good form both starts since, unable to land a blow from off the pace when fifth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (6f) 3 weeks ago. Not out of things returned to 7f.
Spy Kingdom (USA)
Successful in a 7f maiden in the Middle East under the care of A. bin Harmash but joined new yard for only 5,000 gns and showed nothing prior to being pulled up at Leicester (1m) 23 days ago.
Chalk Mountain
Landed back-to-back C&D handicaps 7 months apart, latterly in May. Winless since but confirmed he remains in good form when fourth of 13 in 1m handicap here 2 weeks ago, likely to have benefited from a stronger gallop. Each-way claims operating 2 lb below last winning mark.
Musical Angel
Dual winner in 2025 for Andrew Balding who produced her best effort for present stable when second at Epsom (7f) in September. Raced closer to pace than ideal when eighth over same C&D 17 days ago and she has a less-than-ideal draw to contend with on this occasion.
Rage Of Thunder (IRE)
Won over 6f at Newbury in June and bettered that form when runner-up over that trip here 2 starts back. Shaped well and noted making good ground late in the day when fourth at Goodwood 3 weeks ago and that effort suggests he's worth another crack at 7f. Billy Loughnane a very eye-catching booking.
Siwa Oasis (IRE)
Boasts some strong form and got off the mark with a defeat of Yordan (won both starts since) in novice at Leicester (7f, good to firm) in July. Unable to justify support from what looked a lenient opening mark at Southwell (1m) 11 days ago but better showing certainly not ruled out.
Enricher (IRE)
Came good in 6f maiden at Wolverhampton last August but has yet to offer anything this season, gelded/equipped with blinkers when last of 9 at Newmarket (6f) 25 days ago. Can only be watched with headgear now discarded.
Pints In Peace (IRE)
Won twice over 7f at Wolverhampton in the spring for Ivan Furtado. However, he hasn't fired since then, including all 3 starts for present stable.
