CROOKED PATH is yet another to improve under the handling of James Owen, and he makes plenty of appeal with sights lowered. The form of Moab's latest handicap hurdle third was well advertised at Chepstow on Saturday, and he's the main danger, while Goodwin could have a say if in the mood.

Timeform Comments

Goodwin (IRE)
Quirky, fairly useful type who was well backed to land a first handicap success over C&D last September. Enhanced fine Plumpton record with a brace of 2½m wins prior to a laboured 3½-length third of 4 there to close last season. Claims if going with more fluency for a break/change of headgear.
Motazzen (IRE)
Course specialist. Completed a double when notching a fifth victory here (2¾m) in clear-cut fashion. Subsequent 6 lb rise is potentially harsh with that form hardly looking robust, and a hat-trick may prove beyond him (yard also saddle Moab).
Crooked Path (IRE)
Chased home some fairly useful sorts before off the mark in Tramore maiden in April. Improved model on the Flat for new yard this summer and translated that to hurdling when 4 lengths third in much stronger handicap at Market Rasen (17f) latest. Should stay this far and looks the one to beat.
Moab (IRE)
Close third behind Daylatedollarshort (won Silver Trophy on Saturday) at Punchestown in April. Opened his account in this sphere with a workmanlike win over an improver in a C&D maiden last month (since creditable fifth on the Flat). Weighted to go close on return to a handicap hurdle.
Maillot Vert
Distant second in a small-field C&D maiden last spring. Still below his fair best in a couple of starts in France thereafter, for all he was up against it in better company when last seen 15 months ago. Hood now fitted for handicap debut and he's entitled to need this following a significant layoff.
